That was an excellent one.
... View MoreIt's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.
... View MoreWhile it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.
... View MoreThe movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.
... View MoreThis movie is great. I mean it. There are only 2 things I think will keep me from liking this movie, number 1 is the era it came out in. If it came out any earlier, I would find it good, not great, but given all the schlock that only cares about being as far from 5e source material, I was surprised. The other one is my upbringing, I grew up watching peanuts shorts, and if I didn't watch them, I wouldn't recognize the peanuts tone, this movie has movie also doesn't need feel like an hour and half special. Normally when watching a peanuts short, I'm like, ugh, I don't wanna watch Charlie Brown And Lucy, go to snoopy. THis movie made me want to see Charlie Brown without snoopy. And the ending isn't one of the best, I'm not gonna spoil it, your just gonna have to watch this movie for yourself
... View MoreFirst off, it's my obligation to mention I the reviewer personally only watched the Charlie Brown and Snoopy cartoons every so often and couldn't say I grew up on them, but as an adult now certainly have a feel for what it was all about, its atmosphere and spirit; it's just I wasn't a diehard connoisseur.I preface this review by saying that as the nostalgic effect on me was only temporary and evaporated pretty soon into the developments. However, it felt SO COOL and exciting to see Charlie Brown and Snoopy and the whole gang again and they did a fine job hyping up the event in the early stages. They did an amazing job reconstructing the Charlie Brown appeal both in spirit as more tangibly in the drawings: this here is a 3D rendition of the characters and backgrounds, only boosted with computer-generated virtual motion and it's absolutely superbly done: all the authenticity and pure Peanuts aesthetics preserved, but adapted into the modern mold carefully and most subtly and with excellent attention to detail. However, as mentioned the effect only lasts so long and this film needs to be critiqued as a film for adults, as millennial kids hardly know anything about it and it is obviously aimed at the then-children/now-adult portion of society. So it's a film for grownups; nostalgic grownups; not kids. And as a film for adults, it's just way too thin. It's got the good old morals, the story is easy to follow, the characters each in their own way are funny and cute... but the parts with Snoopy vs the Red Baron turn self-indulgent very quickly and overall the emotionally-charged laughs quickly turn into mere snorts then into polite smiles. It's cute, it's fun, it kept the spirit of the original and preserved the visual appeal outstandingly....but it's not enough as a FILM. A generous 6/10.
... View MoreReview: For a cartoon, which first came to light in 1950, it's amazing that it is still pulling in audiences around the world. I watched the specials that came on TV and I liked the toys and the comic strips but I wasn't a die hard fan like a lot of people around the globe. Personally, I liked Snoopy more than the various characters, because of his wild behaviour and the mischief that he got up with his little yellow friend Woodstock. With the technology that is available now, I was expecting something amazing from this film but the director decided to stay true to the original concept and the style of animation. From an adults point of view, I didn't find the movie that funny or entertaining, mainly because the storyline wasn't that great but I can see kids loving it and it's a great day out for the whole family. Charlie Brown's insecurities, at such a young age, became a bit tedious after a while, which is why Snoopy is so great. The fact that he doesn't speak, makes his face expressions and mannerisms even more amusing, and his loyalty to Charlie Brown is quite sweet. This movie is based on Charlie Brown falling in love with the new school girl, and next door neighbour, the Little Red Hair Girl but he can't pluck up the courage to speak to her. All through the movie, he tries different methods to get close to her but all of his plans lead to a dead end. It's quite a basic plot which lacked adult wit! I have to commend the animators for staying true to the original look and feel of the classic but for this day and age, I was expecting more. I know that Charles M. Schulz never wanted to make a full blown animation movie so it had to be close to the original for the owners to agree to the release, which is why they never changed any aspects of the characters. With that in mind, I can totally understand why the film was made this way, and I appreciate the efforts that were made to keep it as close as possible to the original but I still would have liked something fresh and different from these iconic characters. Watchable!Round-Up: This movie was directed by Steve Martino, who also brought you Horton Hears a Who!, and Ice Age: Continental Drift. He also made 4 shorts for the Ice Age franchise but apart from that, he hasn't had that much experience in the animation world, which is why it was a big surprise that he was trusted with such a large project. He done well in terms of keeping the die hard fans happy and keeping the animation close to Charles M. Schulz original work, which must have been hard because the characters are known around the world. Its good to see that this movie made such a big profit because the franchise was definitely unique and it's nice to see them brought back to life after such a long time. Budget: $99million Worldwide Gross: $246millionI recommend this movie to people who are into their animation/adventure/comedies, voiced by Noah Schnapp, Trombone Shorty, Kristin Chenoweth, Rebecca Bloom, Anastasia Bredikhina, Francesca Capaldi and Alexander Garfin. 5/10
... View MoreIf you are or were a fan, this is a nice throwback to Charlie Brown and the others doing their thing. But even if you never heard of them and this is your first time, this is pretty fun and entertaining. It's not as sophisticated as most Pixar outputs, but not every animated feature has to go that route. You have to have diversity and keeping it "simple" does pay out in this case. And it's not meant in a bad way of course, because the movie does exactly what it says it would do. It's about school, it's about first love, it's about being young and doing stuff you would never do, once you have grown up and it's about relationships in general. It's also about one of the smartest non-talking film dog out there. The animation style may be a put off for some, but it works and should not bother you at all
