A very young Russel Wong plays the part of a stage dancer, dance instructor, and a singer.Anita Mui falls off of favor with her manager. The manager decides to use Russel to be his new singer.Mid '80s was a transitional period for Hong Kong movies, and fresh new (good looking) faces were starting to fill the screen. Russel Wong is very accomplished for his youthful age, and brings in new style of character into the movie. The overall style of the movie still carries old style acting, but the younger generation of actors shows more elegant presence on screen. The movie still has the old school bad dubbing (in Cantonese), and ruins the quality of the movie. Music is also of old taste, and still needs work. But Hong Kong movies as a whole in the next few years skyrockets to a different level of refinement which will make all these woes obsolete in few short years. If not for the old school production style, this movie would have been better, but it's still has sweetness all its own. If you're into old school Hong Kong movies, this is a pretty good movie to watch.
