Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.
... View MoreGood start, but then it gets ruined
... View MoreThere are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
... View MoreThe movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.
... View MoreThis is one of those times when one really needs to know what one is watching before viewing it. Had I not realized The Lost Skeleton of Cadavre was a parody of 1950s sci-fi movies, I might not have sat through enough of it to really get into it and enjoy it.As it was, I was "in on it" from the beginning and really got a kick out of it. Larry Blamire and Fay Masterson are Dr. Paul Armstrong and his cardboard 1950s wife Betty. They borrow a wilderness cabin for a weekend to seek a meteor Armstrong thinks may be made of atmospherium. Trouble is, evil scientist Roger Fleming (Brian Howe) is also searching for it, as are stranded aliens Kro-Bar (Andrew Parks) and Lattis (Susan McConnell).Kro-Bar and Lattis need it to operate their spaceship on a return trip home. Fleming wants it to bring the legendary Lost Skeleton of Cadavre fully back to life so he can rule the world.Oh, and the two aliens' pet mutant gets loose and goes on a killing spree. Meanwhile, Fleming "borrows" the aliens' gadget that transforms beings into other beings, making a human mate simply because it "might look suspicious" if he shows up at a secluded cabin without a date. He turns four wild animals into the sexy, but unpredictable Animala (Jennifer Blaire).Hilarity ensues, with both the alien couple and Animala trying to blend in as normal earthlings and Anamala interpreting the Skeleton's mental command to get the atmospherium as "Get an Amish terrarium." The film succeeds in its goal. It masterfully pokes fun at the inane plots, scripts, acting and special effects of the 1950s sci-fi field, complete with over bearing preachiness about mutual understanding between those in different "worlds."For anyone familiar enough with the genre being spoofed to enjoy a good parody of it, enjoy it and get ready to laugh out loud. And by all means get yourself an Amish terrarium!
... View MoreI am a big fan of the B movies, the ones that get shown on independent television stations late at night and were ripped on gloriously by shows such as Mystery Science Theater 3000. So when I saw that this was on Netflix, knowing that it is in fact an homage to those movies, I had to check it out. What I really liked was how this movie combined various elements from many divergent B movies into a plot that was relatively straight forward. I could almost pick out the specific movies they were recreating. Plus the location was a well known location where many of those films were shot. It is difficult to get more authentic. The acting is, of course, cheesy, but not in an overdone way. Rather it seemed as though it was respectful in trying to recreate the feel of the classic B movie. That's what an homage to those films needs to be.What keeps this from getting a perfect score though, in my opinion, is the look may have been better achieved had it not been shot on a digital hand-held camera and rather put on film. I know there are ways to get that grainy and out of focus type look in post production, and even the black and white was done in post, but still to make it feel more authentic I would have opted for a film camera instead. Really though that is the only complaint I have. The characters were good, followed the stereotype well, and this movie to me was thoroughly enjoyable.
... View MoreOK, so if you are in your 40's and have seen every horror movie since the beginning of time, you know that there were many spoofs made over the years. The Lost Skeleton is probably the worst spoof I have ever seen. Just about every part of this movie was poorly done. The lighting was bad, the lines were bad, the acting was....oh forget it! I found it rather difficult to sit through the entire movie and did not pause it when I had to take a few breaks.Come on Sony....what were you thinking? And why did IMDb "not" say how much it grossed. There are hundreds of film festival movies out there waiting for a Theatre opportunity that should have been chosen instead of this spoof (not worthy of being called a film).
... View MoreThis movie was a great surprise. I am a fan of old B-movies, and this film replicated them perfectly. The characters, the story, the setting, and the humor are all so clever and witty. From the titles of this film, I was laughing my head off. There are so many quotable lines it's impossible to count them all! The Lost Skeleton is so sarcastic, Betty is so stupid.... Larry Blamire did a brilliant job on the script and on the skeleton's voice. The camera, the lighting, the sets, the audio, and even the trailer are all perfectly done to look and feel like a sci-fi movie of the 50's. If only the "(fill in the blank) Movies" and other comedies were this funny and simple. This film was perfect in all ways and really made me laugh. I recommend it to anyone who loves an intelligent comedy; fans of the "fill in the blank Movies" are advised to stay away -- this is not a film for you.
