The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.

Meg (Kate Upton) and Kate (Alexandra Daddario) are best friends since childhood. The two Seattle roommates are struggling and Meg decides on a girls trip to Fort Lauderdale. They have hunky Ryan (Matt Barr) sitting in between them and a competition ensues. The plane is diverted to St. Louis due to a hurricane. They stay at a hotel with fellow passengers. The threesome join passenger Craig (Matt Jones) on a drive to the Fort.William H. Macy tries his hand at directing. It's questionable how two of the hottest women on the planet would fight over the same guy. Sure he's hunky but these girls could snap their fingers and get any guy they want. As for their acting talents, Kate Upton functions well for an SI Swimsuit model. Daddario actually has some comedic skills although that's not her natural talents. It's also weird to have her as a less-hot side kick. That standard role has a pantheon of great actresses. I don't think she is build to play one. While this has some slapstick fun, it can never overcome the hot-girl-struggles problem. Daddario is too hot to be the dumpy best friend. Although I love Daddario, her role needs to be given to a real comedian. The script is nothing to write home about. I do sympathize with the girls trying their best.

After just watching this movies' trailer, it caught my eye, a nice light comedy with two beautiful women so I decided to give it a go, I had a good laugh and was entertained from beginning till end. I don't know why the bad reviews, this movie is way better than many movies I have watched that bored me to death. It is definitely a movie to see. I loved all the scenes and they were definitely funny that includes also other entertaining good comedians. A nice funny mini adventure with little bit of drama as well a good combination for a successful movie. Deserves an 8 for keeping me entertained. Someone said in one of the reviews that it was demeaning for women, it's not it's just a movie not a documentary.Would watch it again for sure!

2017 has been an overall awful year for comedies, with Baywatch, Rough Night, The House, and CHiPs being the big comedies of the year (although Logan Lucky and The Disaster Artist were pretty great). The Layover, starring Matt Barr, Kate Upton, and Alexandra Daddario, is an exception. It has a lot of bad jokes and forgettable performances, but in the end is way more fun to watch than The House or Rough Night. If you're looking for a bad but enjoyable comedy, look no further.

Summary (no spoilers)The movie is about two friends who go on a road trip end up challenging each other for the love of a handsome man when their flight is redirected due to a hurricane. My Review (no spoilers)The things of low class in this movie would be the screen play which made no sense and somewhat the usual story. The guy was not so handsome that two extremely good looking ladies would droll all over him. Kate Upton still needs to learn a lot in terms of acting otherwise she should stick to her usual agenda. Alexandra did an OK job but not so impressive the rest were all blah plus all the jokes were sarcastic and disgusting. It had an unpredictable ending. My RecommendationNo, stay away as possible. My Rating4/10
