Mowgli has been living in the man-village with his little stepbrother Ranjan and his best friend Shanti. But the man-cub still has that jungle rhythm in his heart, and he misses his old buddies Baloo and Bagheera. At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.

Back in the days when Disney was making all those bad direct-to-video sequels, they did manage to switch the formula around a bit...by releasing these would be sequels in theaters. There's just no reason at all for them to do this. Were they over budget and decided to just put one of these boring things in theaters? I know there's no way it'll ever be part of the Disney animated canon. If it was, this would probably be the worst entry in their entire series. This is why people are actually looking forward to a "Frozen" sequel in theaters. With the new grounds set by CGI, we actually have the ability to make the characters more three dimensional in every sense of the word. The story is just Mowgli getting into trouble and considering going back to the jungle. I'd much rather be watching "TaleSpin", arguably the most enjoyable version I have seen of this. I liked the original "Jungle Book" but it definitely isn't one of my favorite Disney movies. This may be why I'm so freaking eager to see that live-action version that's in theaters right know. I know for a fact it would be better than this. This is by no means an awful film, it just has no reason to exist whatsoever. The only redeeming qualities are the voice actors, which honestly do a pretty good job at everything. Tony Jay and John Goodman are lots of fun to listen to. It still ends the exact same way the original movie did, so there's no point in it.Thank you Disney, for discontinuing these bad sequels. I wouldn't make fun of them because I think they're some evil corporation. I would make fun of them because they occasionally make bad products. ** out of ****.

The Jungle Book 2 is one of Disney's most artificial movies in the last few decades and one of the most shameless cash-ins on a story, already more than thirty years old. The film is thin, vacant, free of substance, laughs, and fun. At a mere sixty-six minutes, minus credits, it somehow managed to get a theatrical release, and still charge you for a full length experience. The film doesn't even try to hide the fact it is a cash-in because it repeats the same old story, with the same old song. Mowgli (now voiced by Haley Joel Osment) is now living in the Man Village with his crush Shanti, her brother Ranjan, and their parents. Despite being fond of his new home, he still misses the atmosphere and free spirit of the jungle and the friends he made there. What does he do? After getting in trouble, Mowgli is frustrated (even though he was wrong in the first place) and runs away to search for his friends in the jungle. He runs in to good ol' Baloo the Bear (voiced by John Goodman), and they're off to have a number of adventures involving excitement in peril, or, whatever you can really do sixty-six minutes. If you don't knock it for rehashing the old formula, you can at least say the film is dull and noneventful more than it should be. The first twenty-five minutes are nothing close to exciting, and the danger isn't as frightening as the film would like to believe. It's monotonous, dry, and utterly predictable. When it comes to voice acting, the film vaguely redeems itself. Osment does a nice job as Mowgli, and while Goodman is welcomed as Baloo, it isn't close to the original Phil Harris voice, which was deep, insightful, and addicting. Not to mention, the colors are vibrant and welcoming, giving the false impression they are used in the efforts to create a fun and memorable experience. The problem with films like The Jungle Book 2 is that they aren't healthy for children, and are relentlessly boring for adults. Mainly because they are sugarcoated, lack insight and whimsicality, mistake a gentle appearance for a sense of wholesomeness, and are too short to even find compelling or enjoyable. The original Jungle Book is a wonderful film, mainly because it is soft, fresh, and simple. The only thing hurting it is Disney's inability to keep a DVD of their classics out for more than a year before they are sealed back in "The Disney Vault" only to be seen online, commanding outrageous prices. The Jungle Book 2 is nothing more than an unnecessary rehash that should've and would've been bound for an immediate DVD release had not Disney seen dollar signs in front of the film's poster.Voiced by: Haley Joel Osment, John Goodman, Mae Whitman, Connor Funk, Bob Joles, and Tony Jay. Directed by: Steve Trenbirth.

This film is as awful as Little Mermaid 2. Maybe it is not so much like a remake, but the songs in this one are nothing like the first one's. The story in this one is bad too. So what if there are a few funny moments? Can that forgive the film. Hell, the animation in this one is even worse than in the original. The characters have little detail to their illustrations. I am very, very disappointed in Haley Joel Osment and John Goodman for working with this film. Two of the new characters, Shanti and Rajaan who are Mowgli's friends are very annoying. Shanti starts out at the end of the first as this beautiful girl whom Mowgli will share the rest of his life with. Then she becomes so annoying that you actually hate her! The voice acting is "okay". I expected more from the people though. A very insulting thing abut this sequel is that even though they sing the bare necessities. Haley Osment and John Goodman clearly have a gift in music, but as Mowgil and Baloo, they sing off tune in this song. This sad sequel is just another rip-off of a great film based on a well-known novel. This film should just be ignored.

As far as I'm concerned, this film and the original films are two totally and completely different things and I love both of them; I am not one to compare. I thought the animation was excellent and the songs are alright too.I love the movie opening, when Mowgli was telling his new family and new best friend, Shanti, about his former life in the jungle through a puppet show. As he gets to the part where he fought Shere Khan, the ferocious tiger, Ranjan decides to put his own twist on the story and in doing so, manages to destroy the set and embarrass Shanti in the process. Ranjan's comment that, "Shanti blinked her big, beautiful, brown eyes at you. And you follow her into our village," prompts Shanti to turn red and deny she did anything of the sort. This prompts a little argument between Mowgli and Shanti, forcing Mowgli's adoptive father to break it up by revealing that his wife used the same trick on him. Also, my favorite musical sequence is when Mowgli and the village kids sang "Jungle Rhythm."So anyway, as I said I love both "Jungle Book" films.
