I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

This 'Tom and Jerry' short opens like most of them do with Tom chasing Jerry. Tom seems to be getting the upper hand until Jerry falls into a bottle of Invisible ink. When he gets out he looks down and sees that he is invisible beneath the waist; he quickly dives back in and when he emerges we can't see him! As he runs off we can only tell where he is because of the effect he has on various objects. Tom is still trying to catch Jerry and is shocked when the cheese he is using to lure Jerry out disappears in front of his eyes. From now on Jerry has the upper hand as he beats, batters, electrocutes and sets fire to Tom! Even when Tom realises that Jerry is now invisible he can't defeat him despite some clever ideas. This is a good 'Tom and Jerry' short; the idea that invisible ink actually makes you invisible has been used in other cartoons but that doesn't make it any less funny. As is often the case Jerry's treatment of Tom is rather sadistic... especially when he slips a book of matches between Tom's tows and sets lights it. One always has to suspend ones disbelief when watching these cartoons but that is especially true here; not only do we have to accept that Jerry is invisible but we also have to believe he can lift fairly heavy objects! The way Jerry becomes visible again at the end was rather fun. Fans of the animated duo should enjoy this one.

I love Tom and Jerry, and The Invisible Mouse was just great fun. The story is basic, but original and amusing, but there are so many reasons why this cartoon works. The animation is top notch, smooth and crisp, and the music has enough energy to sustain interest. The pacing is thick and fast, the sight gags may be predictable to some but I for one found them really clever and hilarious and the chase scenes are typical Tom and Jerry classic fashion. Tom is quite dastardly but oblivious to what's really happened, while Jerry is really funny, although the best gags are when he's invisible, such as when he drinks the milk and Tom believes he's seeing things. Nicely rounded off as well. Overall, another delightful cartoon. 10/10 Bethany Cox

This particular T & J caper requires its audience to accept the ridiculous conceit that invisible ink can actually turn you invisible. And if you swallow that idea, then you should have no problem with the rest of this so-so cartoon that also features bannisters that split into two, an unoccupied fish bowl conveniently located for dousing flaming feet, and a transparent rodent who can somehow cast a shadow against a wall.Personally, I believe that the makers of this adventure came up with the invisibility idea in order to save them from the trouble of animating one of the main characters, but whatever the reason behind the concept, The Invisible Mouse never manages to be anything other than average.

The usual cat and mouse antics abound until Jerry jumps into a bottle of invisible ink. He gets the bright idea of torturing Tom without him knowing. The cat gets wise and tries to do stuff to make him 'see' jerry even if it's not fool-proof. Of course Jerry gets Butch aka Killer aka Spike the dog into the act (even if it's late in the short, and his contribution is minimal indeed) Brilliant animated short which kind of reminded me of the one with the white mouse who scares Tom so badly. Most of the gags work and all violent as any good tom and jerry short should truly be. This hilarious cartoon can be found on disc one of the Spotlight collection DVD of "Tom & Jerry" My Grade: B+
