If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

This short feels like the spiritual predecessor of the cutaway gags from Family Guy and shows like "Robot Chicken": Something "innocent" (in this case, a Bambi knock off) is subverted with the addition of a black comedy element. From a modern perspective, there isn't very much to say: Godzilla steps on Bambi, Bambi is dead now, haha. But it's easy to see why such a brief animation like this could easily gain a cult status. It works as a simple but effective idea, like a one liner joke, something that doesn't need to be very complex to be memorable. This simple and direct quality is definitely missed in the awful "unofficial sequel" that nobody asked, "Son of Bambi Meets Godzilla" done in the year 1999.

This is an amazing "movie". You will laugh the first time you see it, and then you'll laugh the second time, and the third time and so on. But I think it is very, very disturbing due to its completely bizarre nature, and the "surreal" feel this short has. In its simplicity and brevity, it conveys more feelings than most summer blockbusters, being funny and hauntingly bizarre at the same time. The scary thing is that the combination of the chord with the cartoony, strange, black and white death of poor little Bambi gives me a feeling much like the feeling I have in a nightmare, so it's a very personal thing, I don't believe anyone else would find this as disturbing and haunting as I do.10/10

I have made this letter longer than usual, only because I have not had the time to make it shorter. Blaise Pascal Note, that when a sentence is made stronger, it usually becomes shorter. Thus brevity is a by-product of vigour. William Strunk Jr and E B White My liege, and madam, to expostulate What majesty should be, what duty is, Why day is day, night night, and time is time, Were nothing but to waste night, day and time. Therefore, since brevity is the soul of wit, And tediousness the limbs and outward flourishes, I will be brief: . Hamlet, Act 2, Scene 2.All of which is fillup to get to 10 lines so my comment can be posted: BVG encapsulates the Zeitgeist of Nixon I, and succinctly.

It will probably take more time to write a review of it than to actually watch it, but if you are given the rare opportunity to watch it, do! How it resolved was not only both expected and surprising at the same time, it was also so logical and funny that you have to watch it again many times over. Watch and repeat. To tell what the fate of the grazing Bambi was would not spoil the movie too much, you should always keep in mind anyways that when watching movies that, except for keeping in mind the following; you clear your mind of expectations and don't ruin it by just "knowing" what will happen next, thats absolutely for the better. One of the best anime shorts ever!
