Just perfect...
... View MoreThis is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
... View MoreIt’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
... View MoreExcellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
... View MoreCute little story with music by Harry Connick Jr. That should be enough for most people to tune in, but there is more.Carol Kane (Hester Street, "Taxi") plays the best friend of Eubie (Rob Paulsen, who has seven Annie nominations and three wins for his characters). One of my favorite comedians (even though he was in that awful Farce of the Penguins) Lewis Black also has a major role. Kevin Michael Richardson (The Matrix Revolutions, "Clerks") sings the blues. Mickey Rooney is Santa. There is enough here to make even the adults happy and the story is funny and really in the spirit of the season.
... View MoreWell, my packaging of "The Happy Elf" didn't have blinking lights, but this was my only disappointment. Thought the animation was great, but then again i have been watching a lot of Simpson shows, and love the animation there too. This movie is from the same company which makes the Simpsons, i've seen somewhere, only it's even better animation. The movie is short, only 45 minutes, which is probably why there aren't any boring moments. There are not any beautiful crying moments either, such as sad bunnies or singing angels, nope, there are only stuff to make you happy or make you giggle. This movie is short, entertaining and you can watch it with toddlers, as well as with bigger children, or "crazy" adults as myself. The voice of Carol Kane as the happy elf's best friend, Mickey Rooney as Santa, and the Mayor (voice by Kevin Michael Richardson) singing "Bluesville", as well as Harry Connick Jr singing the Happy Elf and being narrator and a cartoon character, are stuff which sticks to my mind as a brilliant bonus for the movie, after seeing it. Also the ending is not huge and spectacular with blinking lights and sparkles, but cute. This movie made me feel happy.
... View MoreI have just seen The Happy Elf on Cartoon Network and it was a charming, fun little movie. The Character animation was great as was the character design. I really enjoyed Lewis Black as the the new boss of the main character.I have never been fond of musical numbers in animation and after seeing this movie I'm still not But Harry Connick Jr's touch is felt here with a few jazzy numbers that are quite cool. The Happy Elf did not set my world on fire not that it should since I'm an adult but it was a enjoyable watch. It's a fun movie.
... View MoreLet me start by saying that I love most Christmas movies, specials, etc. I also love children's programming & movies. That said, this video was PAINFUL for me to watch. The script, music and animation were hard to digest at the same time. I saw the trailer and thought it seemed cute enough. The premise of an elf helping a town find happiness, could be fun. So I head to Best Buy & plunk down my money, head home & wished to buy back the 45 minutes it took to watch. The animation was weak. It seemed like a school project. Most looked like flash animation. The scripting was as well amateurish. Too much time was taken by Eubie's happy antics & coal tossing, pushed further by the slap-stick pie throwing. Harry Connick Jr. is a good songwriter & I appreciate his music, but the songs he placed here, are a big waste of time. Stay clear. The best thing of this video was the packaging, with the blinking lights. But that song...
