The Plot is good. This film shows the ego's and theatrics that can come into many churches. Do you go to church for entertainment or to worship? This film epitomizes the the entertainment and politics end. It does have a few songs that mentions God and Jesus. Not that it isn't realistic. It is. But this is the worst of the movie. The best of it is that it does help the viewer see the right and wrong behaviors of a church pastor, church member and Christian. Frank said to his wife,"I may have been in the dark all this time and I just didn't know it." This movie helps the viewer (Christian or non)to hopefully see and understand that we all--even our pastors--struggle with personal problems and how we all for short of expectations of God and our loved ones. As with many that struggle with their faith this movie shows us that we are able to change, but only with the help of God's Holy Spirit. This isn't to say that it isn't a good movie-everyone has their own opinion. But you have to see for yourself to decide.

I worked in a church for quite some time and saw the inner workings of it. Much like anything else a church is a business, and the pastor and congregation are just people. This movie reflected what we are as humans; imperfect. It strayed from the normal Hollywood stereotypes of pretty, perfect, and life always falling into place. It showed the power of God, when we allow Him in our lives, and allow our self-pride to step aside.Powerful, strong and beautiful. And no, you don't need to be a person of color to enjoy this awesome film, as if it mattered, because I am a Caucasion woman. All you need is to enjoy music and have an open mind to real-type people in real-type of events. The best film I have seen in years.~Desiree

Hey i think "The Gospel" movie was awesome because i learned a lot from it you know I'm a Christian girl and I was so touched by this movie because i know that sometimes as a Christian you just want to do things your own way but we realism that we can't do anything without Jesus, without accepting Jesus in our lives so i was really touched by this movie and hopefully there will be another one coming out soon. This movie was like the movie "Fighting Temptation" but this movie had a lot of awesome songs man the way the actors were singing it was awesome. I thank you all for making this movie because it shows in the end that life without Jesus is no life at all. So yeah thanks for making this movie it was a real inspiration to me. I encourage people to buy this movie its awesome!

I agree - the music was great. I thought Kodjoe gave a fine performance. The Charles Frank character was believable in his self-righteousness. Overall, I thought this was a good presentation of the parable of the prodigal son. Having been in the church for years, I also thought the depiction of the church worship services were inspiring. The movie could have fleshed out some of the sub-themes. I also liked the relationship between David Taylor and his manager, Wesley. I recommend this movie, especially to Christians who enjoy gospel music and want to see a slice of church life, particularly in the African-American community.
