Chuck Norris plays a private investigator named "John Shepherd" who is investigating the disappearance of an elderly Jewish diamond cutter named "Issac Teller" (Bernie Kopell) who has been kidnapped from his home. What makes this odd to John Shepherd is that no ransom has been demanded and the kidnappers also try to abduct Issac's niece, "Elizabeth Teller" (Joanna Pacula) as well. Now, even though this isn't a bad film and it certainly has some suspense and action, there really isn't anything here to differentiate it from a host of other films in this genre. Chuck Norris is his usual bland self who gives his standard vanilla performance. Likewise, both Joanna Pacula and Daniel Bernhardt (as the the bad guy"Dirk") perform adequately as well. And while Tracy Scoggins ("Alena") is also in this film, her part was limited and this fact adds another reason for the lackluster final product. That said, if a person is looking for an average action film then this is certainly something they should consider.

When I see Chuck Norris movies as bad as The Cutter, it really makes me wonder how he got all the internet fandom that he has today. Now don't get me wrong I like Norris and i'm a huge action movie fan. I decided to check this one out since it was on Netflix streaming. One of the first things that caught my attention is that this wasn't one of Chuck's classic action movies. This one was released in 2005 back when Chuck was 65 so I figured that it wouldn't be up to par with his classic films, but would make for a fun viewing. First off, it looks as if no money went into this movie. Considering this is a straight to DVD movie, i'm guessing most of the money went to Chuck. The acting is also horrible in this film. You know you've got a problem when Norris is the best actor in your movie. However, you don't go into a Chuck Norris movie looking for anything but some good acting. That's where The Cutter once again fails. The action in this movie is some of the worst i've seen in a long time. The editing is so awful that I would have to call it some of the worst editing i've ever seen in a film. It's done so poorly it takes you out of the action and just makes you look for all the mistakes that were done in the editing. I like Norris and it's a shame to see him in such an awful piece of trash. Even if you are a fan this is one to avoid!

The acting in this movie was surprisingly good and very believable. Of course, it was fairly Hollywoodish in some parts, but I personally enjoyed it. If you are a fan of action, then this film is definitely for you. It has everything in that regard from guns to martial arts. Chuck Norris does a fine job of fighting and he and Ms. Pacula do a great job together uncovering who has kidnapped her uncle and why, but there is no romance at all between them. It does have a historical point to it as well, which I thought was interesting. I loved how it all tied back into the Judaism, that made it interesting if you are a fan of history at all. Some things happened way too easily for the characters, but some of it was believable. Spokane Washington is where the film was set, and coming from WA myself, I think that they could have filmed somewhere else that was smaller and had a far more interesting film with more scenery. All in all, this film was interesting and if you want to see an action packed Chuck Norris movie, this one is for you!

I saw THE CUTTER not long ago. It was a good film, especially in Chuck Norris's honor. In this film, he plays as John Sheperd. A former police officer turned Private Investigator who takes on any job for a price. Following a job that went wrong.. after failing to save a daughter.. Sheperd's life is shattered, when he blames the police for not doing their job. Determined to get over it, he runs himself into another case.. This time, when a diamond cutter's father is mysteriously kidnapped. Sheperd takes on the case, which leads into something more sinister. Someone has stolen an artifact from the Sinai desert, and the diamonds have been vanished.Enter Daniel Bernhardt who plays Dirk. A ruthless criminal who works for Col. Speerman (Curt Lowens).. As the film goes on, everything about these characters begin to fall into place with some consequences..This film is one of Norris's best. Although he maybe old, but still he's tough enough to play the good guy all round. Still beating the cr*p out of the bad guys.. Daniel Bernhardt who plays the villain.. He was good.. He was more of a ruthless assassin who just gets what he wants.. Killing people who stands in his way until he squares off against Norris in a climatic fighting scene at the end. There was also Tracy Scoggins.. who I haven't seen on film for quite some time. She stood out great. She was amazing! And Joanna Pacula.. Great performance.. Still the same Joanna!Bill Tannen's directing was also good. Although the idea of this fast forward sequence which we see in the film is good. At least, in some films.. It didn't drag on too long. Tannen kept the pace going right until the end.Well, I had a great time watching this flick.. Good action from start to finish! 8 out of 10!
