This is definitely not one of the brighter moments in the history of Thai horror cinema. And chances are, if you enjoy Asian horror cinema as I do, that you will be sorely disappointed and bored when (and if) you sit down to watch "The Commitment".The title of the movie itself is sort of ironic, because it was progressively more and more difficult to commit to this movie as it trotted on and on in a very monotone and rather boring storyline.As for the storyline, well it didn't make any sense, to be blunt. You see an accident in the beginning of the movie and a girl running away from it. Then it changes to a group of young girls goofing around at a ceremonial site and pledging some rather dull things. Then it becomes a random collection of scenes of t he girls being haunted by some ghost. It just doesn't have any coherency and the red line was lost early on in the story.This is one of the most boring and dull Thai horror movies that I have seen, and it seemed pretty much like nothing more than a movie to show off a bunch of pretty Thai actresses.The only scary part about "The Commitment" was the lack of scares and the lack of a properly thought through storyline.If you enjoy Asian horror movies, or Thai horror movies in particular, then your money is better off spent elsewhere. If you manage to sit through this movie, as I did, it is the one and only time you will do so. There is nothing appealing about "The Commitment".

Another entirely predictable and utterly dull horror film from Thailand; I'm beginning to think that SHUTTER is a stand-alone film entirely, a true diamond in a sea of pebbles. THE COMMITMENT is a yawn-worthy outing with a heavy religious angle with a storyline involving a group of (irritating) girls who decide to visit a haunted shrine in a bid to make all their wishes come true. Inevitably, an evil ghost spirit has other ideas. Sadly, THE COMMITMENT has more in common with bargain-bin US horror than with the kind of classics that the modern Asian ghost story genre is known for.This is one of those films where seemingly nothing happens. Each of the various characters are haunted by repetitive dream sequences that never really go anywhere, and each of the scare scenes is overly-familiar and diluted. You never get invested in any of the characters, in fact it's one of those movies where you're hoping for sudden deaths for the entire cast. There are one or two grisly moments thrown into the mix, including a particularly unpleasant scene of self-harm, but it's certainly nothing to get worked up about; instead, I'm frankly perplexed as to why this ever got a release outside of Thailand. It certainly doesn't merit it.

I am not much of a critic....but i bought this DVD at best buy and failed to watch it....it sat in the wrapper for months before i decided i ought to open it and watch it (I bought it cause it was Asian, not because i heard great things nor wanted to buy it) I watched it today and to be honest, i sorta liked it.I liked how it incoporated the Thai culture into the movie line. I hadnt known about shrines and such before watching this movie. Showed me that the Thai community is very much into their religious beliefs....But overall, the movie wasn't the greatest...the directing was beautiful, it had some really eerie camera positions that made the movie scary....I would recommend for someone to watch just because I thought "Moss" was really badass and cool and fun to watch....

A group of friends go to a place known as "the house of the spirits" where is said that if you make a wish and offer something good enough in exchange for the wish, it'll come true. After being there, everything seems to go fine for the girls as they wishes come true, but the things start getting wrong when some of them don't carry on the promises.This movie, is a perfect example of the typical Thai horror films, which have more in common with the occidental teenage horror flicks than with the Asian horror movies. Of course, not all Thai horror films are so bad, there are a few exceptions like "Shutter", but in general they are...In this case, there is almost nothing to save, the acting is quite bad, the story poor and predictable, some of the supposedly scary moments are hilarious (specially the two "hair attacks") and the final is....Also, there is one homage to Psycho and another one to One Missed Call that defines perfectly how bad is the movie.
