At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.

It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film

There are plenty of good summaries out there so I won't write you another. Lots of time travel, lots of questions, not so many answers. There's also a fair amount of brutal violence so, consider yourself warned.Actors play their roles very convincingly, Rachel Miner especially hit it out of the park, eclipsing Chris Carmack in every scene that they share. There isn't a lot of explanation of what happens and who the characters are - and I think that's intentional, the viewer has to fill in a lot of blanks along the way. It was a lot of fun to watch the past get rewritten and watch the backgrounds and personalities of characters change dramatically as a result. These changes to the present after he comes back from the jump are pretty reasonable and easy to follow; for instance he goes back in time and commits a crime and has a worse relationship with the police as a consequence.I took off a star only because the villain's plan wasn't as simple as it could have been. Some call it contrived as if it were a bad thing - it's surprising and upon re-watching it makes a lot of sense. If you have a keen eye you might see it coming on the first watch. If I could change anything about this movie I'd axe the epilogue completely and spend another ten minutes or so developing the minor characters.

I wasn't expecting much going into this movie as I'm not a huge fan of sequels. Even though it doesn't have anyone from the original cast (it's a completely new set of characters) it wasn't as cringe worthy as the second movie.I didn't see the twist at the end coming and that's probably what made the movie for me. It was a little disturbing but I won't give away the details!I was a little disappointed that his job in crime solving didn't play a larger role in the plot line. I had the impression it was going to be more about solving crimes.

Some guy is able to travel back in time by getting into a bathtub full of ice and turning off the lights. He's got a mentor for this, who tells him to just watch what happens in the past and never intervene, lest there be ugly unintended consequences. His sister is always with him, checking his vitals and so on while he's "away". We learn that one time he did intervene, when as a teenager his house caught fire and he went back in time to save his sister but as a a result his parents died. Now a girl from his past shows up and asks him to help her. Her friend/his ex was killed by an acquaintance of them and he's about to be executed. She thinks he's innocent and has new evidence. Also, in the present the police is investigating some serial killer who kills women and our time traveler acts like a psychic and helps them out.Our guy travels back in time repeatedly in search for the killer but always gets involved instead of just watching. As a result, when he wakes up, conditions in the present are different. He starts losing it because he's never able to see the killer's face. He also notices that one woman survives every time. He starts traveling in time without his sister who kept him safe and sane. The police start suspecting him because he keeps popping up at the wrong time/wrong place and often is connected to the victims, making him the ideal suspect. In the end we do find out what is going on and who the killer is. It's somewhat of a surprise but given that there are few characters in this movie it's not that surprising. Overall, The Butterfly Effect 3 is a perfectly mediocre movie. Direction is mediocre, so is the acting. The script is slightly better but not entirely satisfying. I think they could have done a better job with the casting. The guy sure spends a lot of time shirtless but he's not very sympathetic and the sister doesn't quite look like she could possibly be his sister.

Lame sequel (clearly made for video) to TBE has a time traveler trying to solve the murder of his girlfriend. It would appear the man convicted in her killing is not her killer, after all. Every time our hero jumps back and forth in time, he ends up making things worse in the present, which was the theme of the original. And as with the original, he endangers his own life with each successive jump. This is a no-budget job, consisting mostly of people talking to each other in order for the flick to run more than a half hour. The acting is typical of the genre. And with a mighty small cast, the identity of the real killer is evident by the halfway mark, if not sooner, which also allows the astute fantasy film fan to predict the ending. Such is life.
