Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

Stars : Linnea Quigley (ROTLD) and Ari Lehman (Friday the 13th).This film is really quite good from Terror Films distribution.Need to find out more of The Hucklebucks and their music. There is more than one villian, Take that Jason, Freddy and Micheal !We have The Candy Corn Scarecrow, Halloween Jack AND The Boogeyman.Lots of scares,Gore and even a few naughty bits. The script just flows and characters are well rounded with issues and make you believe their plight is so scary. The makeup is gruesome done on townsfolk and the 3 monsters are very cool in their latex skin.

Possible plot spoilers, probably not. A group of teens from Helen's Valley go off on Halloween night to Wheary Falls to collect candy and canned goods for love of my horror film life, Linnea Quigley. It has all the bells and whistles that an 80's homage slasher film should have: 1) Token black guy dies first 2) People who have sex die 3) token nude scene with body double 4) Linnea Quigley 5) Metal music 6) Virgin for final girl 7) ridiculous amount of blood 8) Everyone has a jean's jacket 9) great opening scene with a little girl getting a pickax to the head The problem with the production was the acting wasn't there. Mitchell Musolino couldn't carry the lead and the rest of the cast was flat. The writer didn't know what to do with Michelle (Lexi Dripps) and created a sub par character. She should have been key at the end and had lines that would place her there. The creation of characters was poorly done. I couldn't connect.Guide: F-word, sex, nudity

I really wanted to like this movie more... I've been eyeing this for sometime while it was being crowdfunded on indiegogo. Finally got a chance to watch and was very disappointed. Here are my issues. My biggest draw to the film was that it was hyped on being a perfect 80s throwback to the VHS era of slashers. They do an OK job with the music, but I wasn't convinced with the film actually taking place in the 80s. The actors just look like modern kids going to an 80s party and they picked out 80s clothes as best as they could from a thrift store. The film itself has cheesy 80s filters that do not not feel genuine. The practical effects were ehhh. Obviously done on an extremely low budget. Mix of practical and digital that reminds me of movies like Thankskilling. Appreciate the effort though.Acting was pretty flat and I didn't care for any of the characters. Again super low budget. Even has a cameo with Linnea Quigley who's a seasoned scream queen, but you would have guessed this was her first time on screen. The story, to be fair has some cool concepts, but gets drawn out way too long. I honestly think I would have been way more excepting of The Barn if it was just a quick short film or part of an anthology. The only reason I gave this 2 stars was for the movie artwork and merchandise they put out. The art is awesome and alludes to a well polished/stylized film. It is enough to make you want to watch it, but that's about where it ends unfortunately. To wrap... this is more than just low budget, it's DIY. Many of the other reviews seem like they are connected to the film and are obviously biased. If you are OK with DIY then you may be able to look past a lot of it's flaws, but be warned there are many.

The Barn is the perfect love note to 80's horror films. It screams cheese and delivers on all points. The acting, clothing, music, monsters, atmosphere... everything is perfect. I absolutely love Halloween centered Horror movies and this is now one of my favorites ever. I'm sure I'll definitely be watching it more than once a year, however, it will be a new tradition for me to watch it on Halloween on a dark October night. I also have to mention that the merchandise is killer! Something that every fan will want. I bought some at www.thebarnmerch.com if anyone is interested!Don't wait and buy your copy as soon as possible. You won't be disappointed.Tori Danielle
