But after talking to the eccentric locals -- including a shy video store clerk and a corrupt police officer -- Erik finds a woman who is not at all like the girl he left behind. Award-winning director Ulf Malmros helms this black comedy infused with hipster flair.

The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

I stopped watching "Slim Susie" after about 10 minutes in order to get my boyfriend to watch it with me. The first 10 minutes I was laughing continuously and couldn't stop. I have heard about "Slim Susie", but the last few years of Swedish comedy has been kind of boring. The kind of movies where you almost fall asleep because they are all the same and have similar endings, but "Slim Susie" is not. Quite many of the actors are new faces to me. But in this case I think that was more positive than negative. I can't think of a better movie to watch when it's raining outside and you need some fun. This is it, you have found the right movie! Really, I have not seen anything this funny since 1980s. And the best is that Bengt Alsterlind from (Hajk) has a part in "Slim Susie". This movie really shows the Swedish small town humor and when the acting seems bad, remember: I think it was meant that way. I am happy to say that "Slim Susie" is now among my DVD-collection!

Was this movie suppose to be good, or do you have to live in Värmland to appreciate it? 'Cause I found it to be way over hyped on all plans, the only good thing about it, was the actor performance by Kjell Bergqvist. It has come to my mind that Ulf Malmros is way over credited for his movies, he is definitely not as good as some people portrait him to be.This movie is NOT for everyone, be sure you live in Värmland or close to it, so you can relate to all the bums who seems to be living there (met a friend where I study, who told me it was really like that where she comes from, Torsby). I don't hope anyone foreigner watches this movie and think the Swedes are such bums as they are portraited as in the movie.

This movie is for people who like to laugh at drug use and abuse, pornography, profanity, and violence. It does portray drug use in a rather conservative way, that is: dangerous fun that will get you into trouble. On the other hand, its manic accelerated humor might actually make it look like this advice against drugs is not to be taken too seriously. The story starts with a brother coming back to his hometown to look for his little sister. He soon discovers that while he was away in the big city, something went weird back home. His sister is missing and no one seems to know or care about it. His crazy friends are even crazier now, and he quickly finds out there's some strange stuff going on. The quick twists and turns make this movie quite funny and the music adds up to the ironies and just plain insanity of it all.In short: A mad hillbilly Swedish comedy. Good show!

Personally, I'm not very fond of Swedish movies because of the bad acting and stiff dialogue, but Smala Sussie really did it. It was witty, original (but still had some similarities to the Swedish movie kopps), and very well made. It's pure Swedish entertainment in a small farmervillage, where Sussie has disappeared. Her brother, who lives in Stockholm, hitchhikes to Värmland, where she lives to find his sister. during this "hunt", he finds out a lot of weird things about his childhood friends and that "Smala(Slim) Sussie" isn't the innocent obedient "miss motor-girl" she used to be.I think the whole film is pure entertainment with a bit of Swedish maffia and reality action. All of the movie characters are very well played, and I am really satisfied with the dialogues.I really recommend it.Görbra!!"Pölsa has no fear, cause he's got a lot of beer"
