Sidewalks of New York Trailers

The film follows the marital and dating lives of three men and three women who unknowingly form a tangled web of relationships. Interspersing "man on the street" interviews with scenes from the six characters' lives, the film weaves a humorous and biting commentary on the game of love -- easy to start, hard to finish.

Funny, strange, confrontational and subversive, this is one of the most interesting experiences you'll have at the cinema this year.

It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.

It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.

If you liked "Sex And The City", "She's The One", "The Real Blonde" and "Your Friends And Neighbours", you will like it. Good thing is, they are not all Gucci, Dior or Dolce-Gabbana, nor they are trailer-trash immigrants, rather they are a bunch of confused New Yorkers from different social levels who simply tell their stories to the camera. This is a more or less general picture of Americans, they get fat, get bald, cheat around, get busted, and in the end seem to be some sentimental hypocrite patriots. They break up, they make up. They desperately try to figure out the fine line between lust and logic. They identify themselves with dogs and bitches. You would come to pity them. One of the characters tends to think that getting laid is a huge issue for him where the actual huge issue with him was his knowledge in Geography. He needs to get back to school rather than getting back to his ex-wife. If one rarely travels overseas and think that moving across country is a big life-time deal, their mind will also end up like this, and rest of the world outside USA wouldn't even exist for them. Stanley Tucci, Dennis Farina and Brittany Murphy's performance are quite good, though Brittany Murphy's hair always annoys me. Edward Burns and Heather Graham were not bad. Realistic plot has been combined with a special scene-plan in this movie. Looks like a "hopping-shots" technique that suits the theme and mood of the movie. 7 out of 10.

Edward Burns is the kind of writer/director whose movies make you feel like you definitely could be one of the characters. The feelings, insecurities, confidence, etc. of the characters you can see and make connections throughout the movie because of the way it was filmed, as if it were a documentary. It gave the audience a more unique perspective than most romantic films. There was much less of the "meant for each other" bull that you see in most romantic comedies. The characters were believable without tending towards cynical. The best facet of the movie is that it allows the audience to draw their own conclusions about love, sex, and these relationships without pushing too hard the director/writer's ideals. A good film, refreshingly real, but without the big important moments (transformation, change, when characters learn something, etc.) it is ultimately forgettable. This movie doesn't teach an audience anything it doesn't already know, it simply confirms/denies our own viewpoints on relationships. Edward Burns seemingly takes a camera to real life people and shows the all encompassing exterior of their relationships with their lovers.

This is a very funny movie. The subject matter is near and dear to everyone's heart: Dating and relationships, marital or otherwise. The story centers around 6 main characters that are made to look like they're just regular people on the streets of New York. Each one is `interviewed' on the street about topics ranging from sex, dating and relationships. Then we see what each person's dating or marital life is like. Each of the 6 people's lives are intertwined somehow throughout the movie. A well done, well acted cross-section of the 6 people's love lives. Also, look for Dennis Farina's character. This guy had me rolling on the floor laughing; everything he said and did was funny to me. An enjoyable hour and a half. Highly recommended.

I thought this documentary style movie was OK, but coming from a small town I really can't relate to big city life. But, I thought the story was OK and ironic sometimes. The movie follows several people as they talk about their relationships. None of them are in happy ones. And a lot of it is about cheating and one night stands. None of the actors really stand out.FINAL VERDICT: It had nothing that would make me want to see this again. It isn't bad, it just isn't anything special. Maybe if you live this type of lifestyle in a big city, you may want to check this movie out.
