A dark comedy about an eclectic group of strangers invited to a downtown bar by a mutual ex-lover, Nikki Franklyn, a maddeningly sexy, unpredictable and possibly insane young woman who's recently gotten out of prison for murdering her last ex-boyfriend. The party really gets started when Nikki herself arrives, hauling her latest lover and fiancee, the morally challenged lawyer who'd been handling her case. She's mysterious about her intentions and her current and former lovers soon realize they are all caught in one of her brilliant, mischievous mind-games with possible deadly consequences. By the night's end, revenge will be had, new romance will bloom, and Nikki will have delivered on her reputation as the Sexy Evil Genius.

I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

This movie is not a comedy. I agree with the thriller and drama classification. I didn't consider this a bad movie. I found the actors did a fine job of it, but the predictable plot it let down greatly. I also found this movie classified as science fiction in some other places. I was disappointed with their attempts of twists of the plot and found it bizarre how the characters interacted with each other. They seemed to almost become best friends only after knowing each other for minutes. This movie is neither science fiction nor is it a comedy. If your looking for a calm, predictable thriller to watch, this is the movie for you.

The other guy that reviewed this film as a disappointment is way off the mark in my opinion. The first scene didn't bode well it felt like the plot was going to be predictable so at that point I didn't expect to enjoy it. Luckily it's the only film I had so I watched anyway and despite that first scene the rest of the film was written perfectly and I can see how it drew such an interesting cast.I like mind games especially when they're executed with real intelligence along the lines of what some of the really good Japanese animators can pull off. The lead character in this certainly managed to provide that and again I have to differ with the other reviewer in that throughout the movie I thought she was getting sexier and sexier, I do love the crazies though. The cast played the parts very well and I was kept guessing until the very end but what impressed me most about this film is that I was left extremely satisfied with the outcome.I think it's a shame this movie has such low votes as I'm not an easy person to please film wise in fact I've avoided linking my google account to IMDb for over a year because I'm paranoid but I had to say something when I saw the bad rap this was getting.Tl;dr If you like intelligent mind f***ing movies/books/animation you'll definitely recommend this to a friend despite the slow start.

"Sexy Evil Genius" is a Comedy/Drama with snappy dialog that moves quickly from scene to scene and keeps one guessing as to the what led up to the opening moments of the film. If you don't like movies that depend on dialog skip this one. It's a fun story and I was entertained throughout. There are some deeper elements to the plot; look for them. The acting was above average to my untrained eye. The directing and editing was well done and the cinematography/lighting were excellent. The audio mixing was clear, and the score a subtle character. I gave the film an 8/10 as it was thoroughly enjoyable and above an average(good) 7.

This is my first review and nothing compelled me more to write it than the painfully positive reviews and the unreal rating for this title. To begin with, justice was not done with the caste while Green was a type caste role, the "sexy evil genius" herself looked too old to play the role's demand. Performance department was better but not good enough, a staggering performance in the lead role while just an OK job from Green and Trachtenberg, hence my 2/10 rating only due to acting and a bit of interesting opening.Even though I was already not too optimistic from the title itself my expectations were not very high, still the movie succeeded in disappointing me.Plot was full of unsurprising, not so twisting twists, and there was a non existent element of suspense. Story progress, though interesting between different flash backs, was too predictable and annoyingly senseless. All of a sudden Nikky just doesn't like being called Nikk...Character development was also not far behind the plot weakness, in sinking the movie further. The lead "Sexy Evil Genius" character itself gathers more irritation from the viewer than the genius image it struggles so unsuccessfully to project till the very end. In the end the sympathy and support the plot provides for the "genius" main character from other characters is plain failure for the writers to develop the character required to deliver the title role.In total, it's all down the hill after a couple of good lines in the time before the main character "Nikki" arrives. Unless you really want to sit out the duration you paid for, I suggest leaving the theater and do something good with your time then watching till the end as it would just frustrate you more. And to avoid further frustration to point you melt down and create an IMDb account only to write a real review, please don't read the rating and other positive reviews of this title.
