The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.

Two of America's finest actors cannot save this highly produced Mills-and-Boon tale set in 1930s Carolina. After half an hour of multiple micro-scenes that never allow the characters or the plot to truly develop, I gave up.

First off, don't believe any reviews that claim the book was great, because it wasn't, and if you want to know why, check various book sites, as it's been reviewed by enough readers, including myself, who found it severely lacking in character development and general engagement. Anyone who enjoyed it had to be subconsciously filling in the blanks, and this movie at least does that much, using actors we like to bring some humanity to the book's wooden and opaque archetypes. The storyline is always compacted in a film adaptation and what was lost from the book wasn't that important overall, and if you view this as a Cliff's Notes of the novel you'll be better off. If you really need to read the book, do it after you see the movie, so you can at least add some subtext to the characters.

Disappointing They lost me right off the bat with the 2014 clothes and hair especially the current "I forgot to shave" that is so popular now, would have never happened in 1929 and certainly not within the circles he was supposed to be circulating in. Why do they allow this crap? The plot was predictable and overall pretty lame

Interesting story. Beautiful shots of nature. A look at how the inland of US was build. Details in scenography. Real tensions between characters. Etc.Unfortunately this movie is just too good to be so good right down to its end. I simply breaks down in the finale. Sadly, there is this switch from high quality to a somewhat lower level of movie-making for the last 20 minutes or soAnd of course there is the problem of Bradley Cooper- the performer with capabilities adequate for TV chopping channel, who somehow became an successful actor. He plays the main male character, annoying the viewers with his presence. What a bummer this is
