... View MoreGreetings from Lithuania."Rust and Bone" (2012) is a terrific movie. The story itself isn't a simple as it might see because what this movie shows is a real life - it is down to earth reality. This is raw drama which doesn't shy away from anything, but at the same time it is inspiring one. Performances were superb by all involved. Marion Cotillard was amazing as Stéphanie who life turns upside down after a freak accident, but soon she starts a relationship which is this movies core. This is romance movie like i haven't seen in many moons. If you are looking some typical romantic drama, "Rust and Bone" has even shock you in its down to earth approach. Directing as well as writing were simply brilliant by Jacques Audiard. At running time 2 hours i was completely absorbed into this story, i cared for the characters which here aren't caricatures - this is as real as it gets.Overall, "Rust and Bone" is a powerhouse cinema. If you like completely down to earth drama with some romance, "Rust and Bone" is a must see.
... View More"Rust and Bone" is an emotional, tough yet beautiful adult French drama that punches more in the head rather than heart. Jacques Audiard brilliantly gathering two lonely-damaged soul into a complicated relationship with stylish direction and slow plot. The two leading role, Matthias Schoenaerts and Marion Cotillard confidently portrays two different background character that unconditionally need each other to pass through every hard moment in front. Especially for Marion Cotillard, her ability in acting is unquestionable, she successfully brings a magnetic performance as Stephanie and invites audiences sympathy with her character. Still, "Rust and Bone" is imperfect as a movie. Some non-ethics behavior from Ali, too slow storytelling and soulless romance makes this drama hardly to see more than once.
... View More"Rust and Bone" sure had its rusty moments, make no bones about it. Marion Cotillard stars as Stephanie, a killer whale trainer, who tragically loses her legs during one of the shows of the whale theme park she performs at. Matthias Schoenaerts co-stars as Alain, a financially-struggling single father to a young boy who leaves Belgium to Antibes to live with his sister. Alain meets Stephanie before her accident at a bar where he is the bouncer at. After Stephanie's tragedy, the two grow closer together even though Alain still wants to get his bone on with the ladies. Writer-Director Jacques Audiard's orchestration of the film did not have me having a whale of a time, it seemed stagnant at times and very uneven. His rusty screenplay also needed a bit of an entertainment polish. Nevertheless, Marion Cotillard and Matthias Schoenarts' riveting starring performances is what kept "Rust and Bone" from drowning. If you love "Rust and Bone" I have a bone to pick with you; but I say go see it anyways if it's your last rustort, I mean resort. *** Average
... View More"Rust and Bone" is a drama movie which has to do with a woman who is a killer whale trainer and she had a terrible accident. After that she gets involved with a man who is fighting for money.Marion Cotillard (Stéphanie) who played as the whale trainer makes one of her best interpretations of all the movies that she played and I liked her very much. I also liked the interpretation of Matthias Schoenaerts (Alain van Versch) who played as fighter. In this movie we can observe how the relationships of people change when something very important happened to one of them. I liked this movie very much because it shows us and makes us feel how is to be and to live after that accident and with this we can think some things from our lives a little bit different.
