A lot of fun.

... View MoreShortly after the Box-office premiere of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift in 2006, which was a real let-down to the All American crowd, Las Vegas backed Chicago Pictures released in the same genre a movie called Redline, where way more expensive cars and wagers are scripted as in the Fast and Furious movies. Redline starts ravishing with a Lamborghini, where speeds are towed up well above 200 mph, resulting in the state-troopers Fat-boy Harley get blown over by the created wind storm, and cannot instigate the pursuit. At night speeds are likewise towed up well passed 200 mph for the same purpose, but guess what, the driver switches off his headlights and uses standard issue night goggles from the Iraq war to see where he's driving. Night goggles in the Las Vegas desert at night driving a 200mph car ? My gut tells me it has happened, where from time to time only a Redline in the desert at night can be observed. This may seem far fetched and over the top, but if your driving over 200 mph on a public road you are responsible for everything else on the road as other traffic will never see you coming in time, at broad daylight and night. Switching of the headlights is then the equivalent of flying under the radar at night. The movie is centered around some heavy fat cats from Las Vegas who from time to time hold car races where millions are deposited as wager straight from their offshore cayman bank accounts. Redline is clearly intended as a fun ride focusing on expensive cars and women, with blue eyed Natasha (Nadia Bjorlin) as the eye catcher who is truly stealing the show and race. If you like to see real fast cars in real action Redline is the one to watch.
... View MoreThis is one movie that I regret buying and watching because I really don't know what came over me before I first watched it. Many think that I have too much of an open mind when it comes to the movies I watch and I tend to see the positive than the negative. Such was not the case when I watched it as I was able to see everything that was wrong with it.Let me just say that I had bought this at a closing Blockbuster location and didn't get around to watching it until maybe a couple of months after buying it. Also, after watching it, I promptly sold it to a new/used record store because I felt so dirty watching it.Let me just mention that I can see that the female lead is one gorgeous woman. She is also not a bad singer (At first, I thought she was lip-syncing but I read that she is an actual singer and it might have been her actual voice) during those scenes, but the song was terrible because I can see that it has to do with cars and all that stuff. However, I still find that the movie's plot and subplots were bad. I was able to sense from a mile away that the girl and the military guy were going to hook up when they made eye contact in that party scene, but I did not buy the romance one bit. Yes, they end up sleeping together and they end up together in the end, but I don't remember seeing anything that made me believe that they were into each other. Yes, there was the rescue scene (Well, it was mostly to take out the guy's corrupt uncle), but even I found that to be stupid. Did he really need to be all spy/ninja to infiltrate? His uncle lived there, he would have treated him like family if that were the case. But no, we had to have some kind of action sequence and make him out to be some hero. Also, what was the deal with the military guy getting into these fights? Okay, maybe I can buy the part about getting into it with those thugs on the street, but the fight at the party? Because one guy got grabby with the girl? I don't think there was any point to it but just to try to force the romantic subplot down our throats and to show how tough this guy really was. Did this guy get into fights everywhere he went? Let's not forget before the climactic race sequence. Okay, in the beginning, it was said that the girl's father died in a racing accident, but towards the end, somebody mentioned that a fellow racer KILLED her father. Okay, we knew nothing about the racer, second, the part about the girl's father being murdered while racing was just sprung on us like that. It made absolutely no sense.I can go on and on about how terrible this movie is. It's a wonder how this even made it to theaters because there were no big name stars in it. Okay, maybe some like Angus MacFayden is famous in his own country and Eddie Griffin is still a known comedian (And is funny on stand-up) and Tim Matheson is probably the only other one, but he hasn't been a household name since probably the 1980s. I still remember seeing ads for this on this website, MySpace, and even a poster at a movie theater.I may be a fan of "The Fast and the Furious" franchise and while I can admit how bad it is, I also liked "Torque." At least "Torque" was somewhat of a satire of racing movies. However, this movie was without a doubt one of the worst that I have ever scene. Many plot holes, some contrived romantic subplot, too many half-naked women (Not complaining, but was there a purpose?), etc.If you guys want to watch it, feel free to, but never pay a single cent for this. You will regret. However, I would only recommend to use this movie as a means of punishment on someone else. It can really be used as torture.
... View MoreSince most of the reviews on here are about how bad it is, i wont add to that. I will however try and correct a mistake i made in the connections tab. The first one says that there is a tie in in the flashback scene, to the movie days of thunder. This is incorrect in that the car Cole Trickle drove in days of thunder was the red (almost pink) and white #46 superflo Chevy, not a blue and white #66 superflo Chevy. I have models and die casts of every car from that movie, as well as several dozen match boxes. Cole Trickle only drove the #46 superflo car, and the #46 city Chevy cars in that film. And i thought Days of Thunder was a much better movie than this one.
... View MoreNow I am a big revhead. I always have been, and I love a good car movie. Especially racing movies but The Fast and the Furious series didn't really satisfy me. I'm not for a moment going to suggest that Redline is better than FnF because it's not. But I personally was never into the whole Import scene. My favourite car of the entire movie was the 69 Charger. What's more a week after that film came out, every teenager with a FWD Honda or Mitsubushi blew their entire bank accounts on trying to make their cars look better and failed, dismally.I enjoyed watching Redline because it reminds me of the Need for Speed video game series. NFS was all about driving the finest driving machines on the planet to the very limit of speed (on the track and off) but the Underground came along with the whole 'Urban exotic' idea and let all of the Supercar fans down.I think this film could've been the film adaption of Need for Speed and been a lot more successful. But since that isn't the case I'll simply conclude with this. This is not a film for serious film buffs. This one is for the revheads (or gearheads or petrol heads or whatever they call them in the country that you're reading this) who just want something to watch of a Saturday night. It's just something you can sit back and switch your brain off to with some explosions, fistfights, no real story and some of the finest cars of today raced (and crashed) then Redline is an alright choice.
