I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

I'm glad I watched this movie, even after reading all the bad reviews. I love that it's cute and dark at the same time. I guess Twilight is supposed to be dark, but to me it's more like a gushy cliche. I think this movie nailed the mix of romance and darkness.

So, I can pretty much find something to enjoy about a movie. If not the acting, I can appreciate or enjoy the scenery, music, or something. But there is nothing enjoyable about this film. It is truly one of the worst things I have ever seen on screen. The acting is laughable, the plot is ridiculous, and there is nothing memorable about the film's scenery or score. The movie also seems to suffer from something of an identity crisis- it can't decide if it's a horror film, a supernatural thriller, or a romantic teen drama. I like Amanda Seyfried just fine, but she is just not a good enough actress to carry a leading role in a film. Not even the lead in this film which, to be perfectly honest, doesn't require her to do much other than widen her eyes. In my opinion, she is better in smaller, supporting roles and that is what she should stick to.Even renowned actors like Gary Oldman and Julie Christie cannot save this movie. In fact, why either of them would agree to be in a movie like this is beyond me. Maybe they really needed the money at the time, I don't know.I saw this movie when it came out in theaters, and it was a regrettable waste of money and time. I advise anyone who happens to catch this movie on TV not to waste their time with this film by watching it. You will regret it.

I found this film amazing! I truly loved it! It definitely hooked me from the start as it used the original story of 'Red Riding Hood' however it soon developed into a whole new plot that fitted so nicely. Not only that, but the actress Amanda Seyfried performed her role incredibly well, which made the film much more enjoyable. The tension and shock of many of the scenes really intrigued me because i wasn't expecting such a huge plot twist. Furthermore, the way that they tried to disguise who the wolf was extremely clever as i would never of guessed who it was in the end. Finally, i believe that the whole setting of the film was brilliant as you could really imagine yourself in the actual movie, which made it so much more interesting.

I must admit that I actually enjoyed this movie. I found it to be more of a Mystery than a horror movie. Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman and Julie Christie actually carry their respective parts rather well. I especially liked the way Gary Oldman played the Werewolf hunter Father Solomon. Even the Werewolf was done well enough. The suspense could have been drawn out a bit more but the action wasn't bad. It's an interesting take on the original folklore and I had heard similar versions before. The love triangle was an interesting touch but I do believe that could have been developed better. All in all a good movie but needed a bit more development before it went to production. The soundtrack was actually done very well and allowed the emotions for some of the scenes to be done very well. I also enjoyed the scenery which I found to be well executed.
