There is a reasonable doubt that Samuel L Jackson was back on some rent or mortgage payment because there is no reason he'd be apart of this abomination if not to pay someone off. The plot is predictable, and you know how it will end in the first minute of the film. Its not even good escapist fun. (Avoid it)

In spite of the negative reviews, I decided to buy this movie as I am a great admirer of Samuel L. Jackson. I was deeply disappointed. The scenes are all so dark that you cannot even see his face, the D.A. is unappealing and, all considered, you are not swept in the plot. Yet, the story might have been presented beautifully.

10 minutes of closing credits! 13 percent of the this film is either closing credits or beginning credits. This movie is really 75 minutes...more like an episode for TV.What's the deal with the accent/dialect of the lead actor? He clearly sounds not American. What's with all the trend with movies putting British actors as Americans who can't do an American accent? The movie is OK. More like an episode of CSI than anything else but you have to get past the wonky accents. Very detracting from the story as a whole. It seems all the movies have these crappy British actors in movies doing crappy American accents in them.

"Reasonable Doubt" from 2014 is an independent film starring Dominic Cooper, Samuel L. Jackson, Gloria Reuben, and Erin KarplukCooper plays Mitch Brockden, a Chicago DA and a new dad to a beautiful little girl. Let's start off with the fact that Brockden is a weasel. He has a brother who has done time in prison, and he's cut himself off from him so that his career wouldn't be affected. He follows suit one night when he goes out drinking with friends. Rather than drive home since he's loaded, he calls a cab. But while he's on the phone, he sees someone trying to break into his car. He chases the man off and just decides to drive home.As he's driving, his car hits something. Getting out, he sees it's a mangled body, but the man is still alive. It's cold and snowing. Brockden calls a cab and then leaves. Nice guy. Again, it could affect that all important career of his.To his shock and amazement, a man named Clinton Davis (Samuel L. Jackson) is arrested and charged with murder when the victim is found in his van.Davis swears he was trying to help the man. Brockden prosecutes and subtly helps the defense. Davis is released.A police detective, however, believes that Davis may be a serial killer, which causes Brockden to investigate. He soon is in way over his head. There are some problems with this film, and one of them is the ending. It looks like they ran out of money and just finished it quickly. I just read a message board about this film, and it was discussed that Brockden wasn't arrested because he hadn't committed a crime. But he did commit a crime - he left the scene of an accident. That's a felony in Illinois. People on the board said, they couldn't prove the DUI. How right you are - because he left and the police couldn't test him. He could have gotten 3-7 years and I think he would have lost his job.The other problem was the casting, and this is a common problem that movies and TV shows make all the time. You cannot cast a famous person in a role that SEEMS small. Because the audience knows right away, it isn't small and he's going to show up again. There were other problems but they were somewhat trivial. It's just what happens when you shoot a movie in 27 days.Jackson was excellent, but I thought the lead gave a bland performance without much variety. I don't understand it because Cooper is a British stage actor with a TON of credits. He didn't seem very invested in the role. The rest of the acting was okay, and there were a couple of very suspenseful scenes. It's good to rent.
