I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

Mohan Lal's performance as Mangalassery Neelakandan in Devasuram was still fresh in our heads when they came up with the unexpected sequel to it. Ravanaprabhu was the best movie of the year, and Mohan Lal out did himself again. With the music of Suresh Peters, it also has a lot of foot stomping music... and not to forget more of Mohan Lal's catchy phrases... savaarigirigiri... Napolean is back with a vengeance, this time with his nephew, out to destroy Neelakandan. But one thing they didn't count on was Mangalassery Karthikeyan. Karthikeyan is even less forgiving that what his father was... Also starring are Revathy and Vasundhara Das. All in all, Ravanaprabhu is a must see.

The sequel to Devasuram, Ravanaprabhu did not disappoint me at all! Malayalam movies generally dont produce sequels, so it was just a matter of anticipation as to how this franchise would turn out. Feels a little odd though when you dont see much difference in the society as such, especially considering that 30 years have passed since the time of Devasuram. Oh well... Good overall acting. Story could have been made a little more interesting.
