There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

This movie is a master stroke when it comes to love stories.Loved everything about the movie from settings, lighting, angles , reflection and camera movements. Natural beauty of every character not just the leads was captured perfectly. The grace and gentleness depicted of leading females . Mary's teenage charm, Malar's poise and Celine's modern yet gravitated personality just brilliant. Character of Malar lives in our hearts forever. Nivin Pauly one sparkling talent!

I don't see Malayalam movies much, most of my friends watched this movie more than 5 times. So, I decided to watch the movie without any expectation at all. After watching the movie I wonder how everyone fall in love with this movie? May be no one fallen in love in their teenage or this movie may be their first love movie. Worth a watch, but it was completely overrated. This movie just looks like just a combination of two good Tamil movies Autograph(2004) and Attakathi(2012). The actors, actress done their job well. Music also nice. Screenplay made this movie a big success.

Don't think otherwise I wrote a review for the film which got released 6 months back. What to do when I want to watch other language films, I need to wait for subs ;). That is where the delay. Anyhow here we go !Premam film doesn't have a strong story line but I wasn't bored for a second. The way I got recommendations to watch Ustad Hotel, Bangalore Days & Neelakasam Pachadkal & Chuvannabhumi, likewise I got recommendations to watch Premam too. (Ofcourse I watched it with subs, manaki Hindi ye raadu sarigga.... inka malayalam aithey illileyoo..;) ) The way Malayalam Industry is making films now a days is spending very low budget and getting huge revenues. Actually Premam will come into that category. It's an emotional ride filled with good performances, extreme highs & lows and situational comedy and you travel with the characters throughout the story. Considering the scope of Malayalam industry this film has taken it to the next level actually. Overall it is a visually appealing chronicle of love with few blemishes.

I am no movie buff and I cannot get into any technical aspects of the movie, but to me, Premam is more than perfect and the spell it has spun has remained with me even after a good one month since I watched it to make me write a review. It was nothing but pure and sheer entertainment and pleasure to watch a honest movie made by Alphonse Putharen. The story, as many know by now, is not complicated; it's about adolescence, of innocent love/infatuation as many like to call it and the heartbreak of a failed proposal, the at-the-tether-end-of-adolescence phase where we do believe in love at first sight and giving a damn about the world, the more mature young man phase where love happens even after past failures. To get dramatic, Alphonse Putharen is an artist who has painted his canvas with all the right mixture of emotions, colors, palettes etc. I can see from his interviews that he is a very passionate filmmaker and his work shows in such a way that you are bowled over by each frame of the movie.Nivin Pauly is at his best in this movie. Believe me, the first movie that I got to watch of his is Neram and I simply can't compare how much he has grown from there to here, his personal best performance so far I believe. Sai Pallavi is like a fresh breath of air, perfect as Malar, you will fall in love with her for a whole lot of reasons, the voice, eyes, the pimples, etc.Shabareesh Varma, Krishna Shankar, Vinay Forrt, Anupama Parameswaran, Madonna Sebastian, Soubin Shahir, Siju Wilson, Sharafudheen, Ananth Nag, Renji Panicker, the peon and so on will leave an indelible impression on your mind. The songs need a special mention. If Alphonse Putharen is the quintessential filmmaker, Rajesh Murugesan is the versatile music composer. This movie has a magical feel to it because of its varied genres of music. The background score suits the mood of the movie to the T. Also, all the song lyrics are penned by Shabareesh Varma, it has made me run around looking for words unheard of before because I am a native Speaker only with no prior knowledge of tough, unpronounceable Malayalam words. The whole feel of the lyrics and composition takes you to another level. These songs are my morning walk partner now.To sum it all up, for me this is a whole new phase of rediscovering Malayalam movies, like the ones where something stirred in your heart when you watched Lalettan, Jayaram, Maamooka, and the likes emote. With this movie, Alphonse has announced to the world "Watch out world, here I come." Thank you Alphonse for making me proud of my roots!!
