The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

Kate (Eva Longoria) is a bossy annoying bride to Henry (Paul Rudd). On their wedding day, she gets crushed by an ice sculpture. It's one year later. Henry is depress. Kate is a ghost in limbo who doesn't know what to do. Henry's sister (Lindsay Sloane) forces him to go to psychic Ashley (Lake Bell). She gives Ashley Kate's diary so that Ashley can trick Henry to move on. Ashley does that and more. She falls for him.First, Eva Longoria is super annoying. I am not convinced that Paul Rudd and Longoria would ever make a viable couple. There is a real need to have Longoria show her love for Rudd more than a few times at the start of the movie. He would probably be miserable as Longoria's whipping boy. While I like Paul Rudd and Lake Bell separately and together, they don't strike me as the pratfall type. This is especially true for Lake Bell. I think their best moments are the snappy dialog. All the weird slapstick going on is out of touch. Jason Biggs lighting his arm on fire is just strange. There is a need to make a decision on what kind of movie this is. Is it a 3 Stooges' slapstick? Or is it a sweet rom-com? It's just a little too odd.

You know you are in trouble watching a comedy, when the only amusing parts in it are from the Animal cast. It is a pity then that the parrot, Cat & Dog were only in support & not the other way around, as the humans in it were pretty abysmal throughout. If I were you, Paul, Eva, Lake (what sort of name is that), Jason, & Lindsay, I would forget this acting lark & do something else, as all of you are as funny as watching paint dry, & awful actors to boot. The main gag in the film is one of the characters shouting, me not Gay, which is funny as if you weren't, you might change your mind if you had to put up with the three bossy, tedious & dare I say very plain women leads in the film. The worst film I have seen in years, & hopefully never see one as bad again, though I expect not.

Actually my vote is a 7.5. Anyway, the movie was good, it has those funny parts that make it deserve to see it, don't misunderstand me, is not the funniest movie of the world, and its not even original because its a idea that we have seen before in other movies, but this one has its own taste, a friend of mine told me that this was a film for boyfriends... I think that not exactly but who cares? Also there is another movie that show us almost the same topic, Chris Rock appears in it, the name is Down to Earth, men, that one its a very funny movie, see both if you want and I know that you will agree that Mr. Rock won with his movie. I would liked that the protagonist male character were given to Ashton Kutcher, however, the film is good.

Okay, it's not that terrible a movie but it felt pretty dead. There is just no soul and no chemistry (two very important ingredients for rom-coms). Moreover the story fails to stay focused as it wonders whether to focus on Eva and Lake's battle or Lake and Paul's love story. As someone mentioned, it tires to combine 'How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days' and 'Just Like Heaven' (both movies which I enjoyed) but fails to reach that level. None of the characters are likable. I found them to be quite irritating. The only bright light here is some of the comedy which manages to get some chuckles. Eva Longoria repeats her Gabrielle Solis act (of 'Desperate Housewives') except that this time her character is dead. She does provide some eye candy and is funny in some sequences. Paul Rudd looks careless throughout the entire movie. Lake Bell, though she doesn't act bad, there is something missing. Jason Biggs does well with what he's given. 'Over Her Dead Body' is just a weak and forgettable movie.
