Well Deserved Praise
... View MoreOne of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
... View MoreThe movie is surprisingly subdued in its pacing, its characterizations, and its go-for-broke sensibilities.
... View MoreIf you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
... View Moreon the surface this movie tells a story of a over medicated man not knowing what he is all about. he has a well paying legal position in a law firm. he has a very nice girlfriend. he has a beautiful apartment. all seems well.then a 'friendly yet threatening' man turns his life topsy turvy and everything he took as 'stable' in his life suddenly falls out from under him. he becomes obsessed with this man and his odd friendship.and isn't that the roll America is playing in the world today? think about it. even this allegory is handed to the viewer with the restroom graffiti he reads - (notice it changes shape as he reads it). are our friends our enemies? who are our enemies? do we have enemies? etc.that's what i think this movie is all about - being insecure and fearful in a space and time he (we) are unable to properly perceive due to the constant media drugs we swallow willingly daily. instead of stopping to think we react.this film is edited brilliantly !!!
... View MoreLet me begin by saying that if you are not into movies that make you think, then this is not the movie for you! OK, I watched this movie on netflix as sort of a way to pass the time. I skipped over it nearly a hundred times, because honestly I thought it sounded a little stupid. Well I decided to watch it, and could not be more glad that I did. You slowly watch a mans mental health escape him in what is truly a great performance by Rhys Coiro. I did not NOT like any part of this movie, and loved everyone's performance. And the movie does have good talent, including Milo Ventimiglia, Samantha Mathis and even Susan Ward, who somehow always gets the part of a slutty girl, even though her talent is WAY beyond stuff like that! But anyway, definitely watch this movie if you are into psychological thrillers, or even movies that make you wonder what's going to happen next. And I promise you the ending will really make you wonder what happened. Was it really the gun going off, or just another noise in John's head? Well, you decide.
... View MoreMy wife and I both really enjoyed this film. Unconventional but not overdone. The video, audio, and character development are well tuned. We were kept interested the whole way through. The action is a very enjoyable snap-snap at first then it morphs into other less happy forms of snapping. Less happy but intense. As the movie unfolds we were brought down with it, as if under its spell of mystery and foreboding. The stuttering video as well as the very creative sound track kept us glued. We loved the intensity of its spell. Excellent sound track. The sound track made good dramatic use of silence, quiet time advance ticks, and whacking loud time advances. The music track was good and seemed to place the characters in their urban upscale lifestyle.
... View MoreThis movie -that tries so many times to convey some flatulent, deeper meaning- isn't anything more than a two hour dick measuring contest. Absolutely terrible. I also couldn't figure out why the DVD cover has a picture of moist towelette on it. I couldn't help but wonder if somewhere there is a 25 years old white male, reeking of Axe body wash, drinking Smirnoff Ice, and feverishly taking notes while watching this movie. It's less about being entertainment and more about being an instruction manual for douche bags. Don't let me forget the music! There is a repeating soundtrack throughout the movie, during times that I'm assuming are supposed to be hight tension, which sounds like someone rhythmically beating a file cabinet with a paperweight while someone hit's it with a tambourine on the upbeat. At one point in the movie, the antagonist suggests that the protagonist go to his girlfriend and, "fingerbang her like Lenny Kravitz". Granted, I really don't know much about Lenny Kravitz, but that line just seemed a little bizarre.
