It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

I love shark movies. The Shallows was great, Open Water 1, even the latest one 47 Meters Down had some fun stuff but I was really blown away but Open Water 2. I thought no way could it be as good as the first one but it is scary in a way you don't see coming and isn't just a repeat of the first movie. As sequels go, this one is for sure worth your time!

I can't understand why there are so many negative comments about this movie.Wanting to watch a decent shark movie, I scrolled through Netflix and Amazon until I found Open Water and decided to give it a try. Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed it and immediately started its sequel, Open Water 2: Adrift. I expected this one to be hopefully entertaining at least, if not as good as the first. I was wrong!I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that this movie was actually a thought- provoking and terrifying drama. I was on the edge of my seat almost the entire time. I found myself bored a lot during Open Water, but this sequel was so much more fast-paced and, to a certain extent, unpredictable.Even though I usually root against the protagonists in these types of movies (horrible, I know), but I really found myself caring about the characters in this one. Sure, some of them did stupid things (that's life though, isn't it?), but I found the character portrayals very believable. The acting was actually very good. I identified with Susan May Pratt's character almost immediately, as I have a phobia of water as well. It was so interesting to watch each character's personality traits as they interacted and clashed with one another during the events of the movie.I was so shocked at all of the bad reviews for this movie that I had to make an account on IMDb just to write my own review. No it's not perfect, but it definitely deserves a lot more credit than some people are giving it! Keep an open mind, suspend your disbelief just a tad, and you may just enjoy this one. Just be aware that you may not want to watch it before a boat outing...

Director Hans Horn has brought to the screen one of the most powerful high seas adventure and moving human dramas in a decade. Capturing all the suspense, despair, and ultimate triumph of the human spirit that distinguished the first Open Water, Horn adds is own personal touches of heart breaking intensity. Starring a cast of highly talented actors who give performances of incredible depth, this film presents characters who we grow to love and care about. The imagery is haunting and the thrills unrelenting as these flesh and blood people fight for survival against nature itself. A motion picture that leaves an impression and has a lasting impact on anyone fortunate enough to be numbered in its audience.

I really enjoyed the original 2004 film, which was a home-made little indie movie in the tradition of "Blair Witch" and "Paranormal Activity" that takes off and becomes a mainstream hit. I saw this movie, and figured, okay, it's probably a direct-to-video title with some more familiar faces than the original had, maybe a little bigger budget, but will probably be god-awful. Well, it wasn't actually as bad as I expected. The premise of the original is this couple is out on a scuba diving expedition in the Caribbean Islands somewhere I think-??- and get left behind by their instructor to fend for themselves in the shark-infested "Open Waters". This one really doesn't have anything to do with the original, other than having a similar premise. The premise of this one is that these three couples are out on their friend's yacht, enjoying the ocean. One of them panics, and they all jump in the water to save her not realizing no one let the ladder down... Okay..would this really be a major problem?? I'm not terribly familiar with the whole mechanisms involved here, so I didn't have an issue with it. I was on board. Now they, like the couple in the original film, have to fend for themselves in the middle of the ocean in shark-infested "Open Waters". But this one, unlike the original, instead of it being "man against beast", it was more "man against man", as they start to turn on each other one by one.So overall, I'm a bit on the fence on this one- probably a marginal thumbs-down. See it if you liked the original, and have nothing better to do some Saturday afternoon, otherwise- if you haven't seen it already- watch the original 2004 film instead...
