Purely Joyful Movie!
... View MoreGood start, but then it gets ruined
... View MoreThe film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
... View MoreThe film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
... View MoreIn many ways, "The Fisher King" is like the later film "Reign Over Me", though they're different enough I recommend you see them both. Each is about a man who loses contact with reality after experiencing the tragic loss of their family...and another man's attempt to help. When the story begins, Jack (Jeff Bridges) is a radio shock-jock...much like Howard Stern. However, after he makes an offhanded comment on the radio one day, a man goes on a murderous rampage based on the comment!! Naturally, Jack is a mess and his career disappears. Several years pass and he meets a guy who is extremely delusional (Robin Williams). It turns out the man snapped after his wife was murdered...by the same maniac at the beginning of the film! So, Jack makes it his life's mission to help the guy and help him re-establish contact with the real world. This is a pleasant film with a few odd surreal moments. This could easily turn off some viewers, but I found I was able to still enjoy the story. Plus, compared to director Terry Gilliam's other films, this one is downright normal! Worth seeing.
... View MoreWith so many reviews before I will contribute mine in a very brief fashion. I consider this Terry Gilliam's motion picture highly overrated. I cannot imagine anyone in their right mind would want to watch it more than once - and even single viewing is an ordeal in this case.Jeff Bridges looking for redemption and Robin Williams as a "bum" who helps him find it. This is a film that is calculated to appeal to trendy "Thirty- Fourtysomethings." I find it one big bore, but then again, perhaps I just like to think young !
... View MoreI'm a tad confused here. I adore Robin Williams and there will never be another like him, but I didn't quite get this movie. It's definitely my expectations, because the movie is pretty theatrical and I was expecting more of a, you know, movie.Jack tries to get Lydia to out with Perry without so much as making Perry take a shower. Really? Then Lydia agrees to get her nails done for $40 (in 1991!) and even goes to this total stranger's house after the weird ways in which Jack tried to approach Lydia. It just wasn't believable. And there was a bit too much black knight on the horse going on. Also, breaking into a millionaire's house on 5th Avenue by climbing on the street side. Really? Sorry but it was just impossible to believe any of this.
... View MoreYes RIP Robin Williams I can't find a better caption than this. The acting which he did in this movie is top-notch. I'd seen many movies of Mr. Williams like "R.V" and "Good Will Hunting" but to me this movie wins hands down, Robin Williams is so into character never breaks it and does with absolute perfection . But I must say that Jeff Bridges was also wonderful he's a talented actor and he's awesome. Mercedes Ruehl as Anne was also very interesting though her role was not important but still noticeable. So about the movie its about a man Jack who is a self arrogant, cynical and a type of a man who always thinks for himself he has no feelings for others, unintentionally did something terrible and one day a devastating news breaks on him and his life changes, after three yeas he was saved by a guy from suicide who's life is ruined by his mistakes and by helping that person he finds redemption. This movie could be better by improving some idiotic scenes which I found very stupid. This films also about Schizophrenia and how a person deals after a traumatic experience, so if you are interested in this, then definitely check this out.
