If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny

In many ways, "The Fisher King" is like the later film "Reign Over Me", though they're different enough I recommend you see them both. Each is about a man who loses contact with reality after experiencing the tragic loss of their family...and another man's attempt to help. When the story begins, Jack (Jeff Bridges) is a radio shock-jock...much like Howard Stern. However, after he makes an offhanded comment on the radio one day, a man goes on a murderous rampage based on the comment!! Naturally, Jack is a mess and his career disappears. Several years pass and he meets a guy who is extremely delusional (Robin Williams). It turns out the man snapped after his wife was murdered...by the same maniac at the beginning of the film! So, Jack makes it his life's mission to help the guy and help him re-establish contact with the real world. This is a pleasant film with a few odd surreal moments. This could easily turn off some viewers, but I found I was able to still enjoy the story. Plus, compared to director Terry Gilliam's other films, this one is downright normal! Worth seeing.

The Fisherking At school we watched a movie in class. It was the movie "The Fisherking". It is a movie about jack who becomes very good friends with an sort of homeless guy parry. Jack feels guilty for the lost of parry wife. And to feel less guilty jack helps parry in his search for the holy grail. The Fisherking is a movie based on the story of the knight parzival. It is a part of the parzival story brought in a nowadays jacket. In the beginning of the movie I thought it was a little bit slow and boring but a little later in the movie it became very nice and not boring at all. The role of jack is played by Jeff Bridges. The role of Parry is played by the great actor Robin Williams, who sadly past away in 2014. Robin Williams plays the roll of parry perfect. In the movie he really becomes parry. But also Jeff bridges plays the role of jack very good. The Fisherking is a mix of drama with also a lot of humor. It is a very good movie with a real strong and good story. I highly recommend this movie. That's why my rating for this movie is an 8 out of 10.

It had been a couple of years since I last watched this film and I must say I have found more appreciation for it since. Redemption is a strong theme of this film as it tells the story of a shock jock, who becomes suicidal after a listener he offended going on a murderous rampage and in order to redeem himself, helps a homeless man who was affected by the tragedy. Jeff Bridges is one of the stars in this underrated dramedy, playing shock jock Jack Lucas who comes across as arrogant and obnoxious but starts to show a softer side as the film progresses. The other star of the film is the incomparable Robin Williams who plays Parry, a mentally disturbed homeless man who has hallucinations about knights and believes himself to be on the quest for the "Holy Grail". The acting in this movie is top notch as the cast give close to career best performances, Jeff Bridges proves he is truly an underrated actor from his generation and Robin Williams perfectly blends his dramatic and comedic sides here to give one of his best all-round performances. Most people see Williams in more strictly funny roles like Mrs Doubtfire, Patch Adams and the like but he is one heck of a good actor, one of the best comedic actors of all time. Amanda Plummer sort of plays against type in this movie as Lydia by not playing her usual crazy woman roles (ie. Pulp Fiction) but in a way, it is Mercedes Ruehl who steals the show as Anne Napolitano, the girlfriend of Jack who is not just eye candy but is almost like a voice of reason to him. Speaking of Ruehl, she fascinated me as I always used to wonder why she won an Oscar for this role but not every Oscar winning role needs a member of the audience to feel sad or cry, she does the opposite by making me laugh and bringing deeper meaning to her character which is hard to do in a comedy. And of course, credit must go to Terry Gilliam who strikes gold with this modernistic take on an Arthurian tale and is personally the mastermind of weird movies such as this. But whoever said weird was bad? If you think so, I suggest you take time to appreciate "weirdness" such as this.

Yes RIP Robin Williams I can't find a better caption than this. The acting which he did in this movie is top-notch. I'd seen many movies of Mr. Williams like "R.V" and "Good Will Hunting" but to me this movie wins hands down, Robin Williams is so into character never breaks it and does with absolute perfection . But I must say that Jeff Bridges was also wonderful he's a talented actor and he's awesome. Mercedes Ruehl as Anne was also very interesting though her role was not important but still noticeable. So about the movie its about a man Jack who is a self arrogant, cynical and a type of a man who always thinks for himself he has no feelings for others, unintentionally did something terrible and one day a devastating news breaks on him and his life changes, after three yeas he was saved by a guy from suicide who's life is ruined by his mistakes and by helping that person he finds redemption. This movie could be better by improving some idiotic scenes which I found very stupid. This films also about Schizophrenia and how a person deals after a traumatic experience, so if you are interested in this, then definitely check this out.
