Very well executed

Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

This movie was amazing! Overall, I loved this movie, with excellent acting! Homer wanted to follow his dream and his dad didn't seem to care, except for himself. Yet his father was a self-made successful man in his own way. This is a point in case that go for the golden ring. Tears come to your eyes towards the end.

I am not someone who writes reviews about movies, but then this is my first experience as I couldn't stop myself writing about October Sky. This movie is very close to my heart as it touches every aspect of our lives – aspiration, family, friends and most of all hope. I guess I have now lost the count of me viewing of this movie and trust me every single time I watch it , my heart feels good and my eyes have tears.The most beautiful part of the movie is the father-son relationship. Like Homer, I have grown up watching my dad as my Hero and always wanted to be someone like him, but could never muster the courage to tell him what he means to me. The other thing I love about this movie is the persistence by which one should follow his heart. Watch it with your family and friends and celebrate life in the way it should be. Show it to your kids, for the values it carries. Sad we do not get to see such stuff these days. Rare gem that is not found these days.

1) A simple boy born in a town where people are destined to become a coal-miner sees the sputnik in space launched by Russia. How it inspires him in his journey and his exciting new adventures from then on to become a rocket scientist. The movie depicts how he is helped by Ms Riley, his school teacher and some neighborhood friends. The movie is simply motivational. A must watch. A true story of Homer Hickam and his sheer grit and determination against all odds to pursue his dreams and ambitions. 2) The most motivating movie I have watched so far and the one which expresses one's dreams so beautifully, its laudable and extremely praiseworthy of watching again and again. If you dream, one day you certainly will!

What a wonderful film. Inspiration and feel-good done right. Jake Gyllenhaal was really impressive, like, shockingly so. Infuses so much into his character in ways sometimes he didn't later on in his career. All of the supporting turns were quite good. I watched it for Dern (who was great in her role, so much warmth and compassion despite playing it so broadly) but got a really great cast all around. I strongly recommend it, especially because it really does feel like it comes from a lot of undeniable passion, a lot of true inspiration and a true interest in the subject, in a way that doesn't ring false or comes across as contrived or trying to garner emotion or sympathy that isn't warranted at all. There are films like that, but this isn't one of them and needs kudos for that.
