Go in cold, and you're likely to emerge with your blood boiling. This has to be seen to be believed.

... View MoreOn-board a raucous train party, God and Satan begin dueling over the fates of three cursed individuals with them and show their respective fates. The Good Entries: The Case of Greta Connors-Trying to start her music career, a woman joins up with an admirer of hers and begins introducing him to a secret club full of death-obsessed lunatics drawing them both closer and closer to the breaking point. This here wasn't all that bad and actually had quite a bit going for it. Among that is the fact that this one really piles on the cheesy nature of the action here by utilizing the absurdity of the club activities into pulling off some outlandish set-pieces from the initial seance we stumble upon that showcases the insect coming to life, the later game of Russian Roulette that takes place strapped into electric chairs that ends up generating a gruesome and graphic death when one is shocked so bad as to have their skin fried to the point of melting off the bone and the finale with the swinging pendulum ball is shockingly suspenseful and tense waiting for it to complete it's swinging around over the group. Along with one of the most unintentionally cheesy martial arts scenes that's so utterly goofy and obviously not experts or proficient in the style being featured, this one at least comes off nicely. Much like the other segments, though, the haphazard plotting and pacing is so obviously scattershot around the different plot lines that it's hard to tell what's going on at times and the narration over-the-scenes don't help hiding that which gives this some pretty glaring and troubling times. Still, it's quite fun and enjoyable. The Case of Claire Hansen-Troubled by strange dreams, a man's claim of a local playboy's true nature brings her husband and a detective to try to unravel the mystery of his past to solve the case about several mysterious deaths tied to them. This one here wasn't really all that bad and had some decent parts about it. The entry gets a lot to like when it starts delving into the mysteries and strange delusions of the different afflicted personalities here, from the strange flashing demon head that continually pops up around before the different attacks, from the early scene about the disgruntled employer at his mansion, her strange dreams and visions as well as the boyfriends' encounter with the living statue which results in some rather intriguing efforts here. Even more fun is the big finale which really goes over-the-top and generates plenty of highly enjoyable moments from the bizarre situations and extreme violence that carries along the big kills featured. Still, this one is again so confusing and scattershot that it really doesn't make any sense at all as parts are obviously cut out and missing giving this a wholly disjointed feel. The cheesiness on display isn't as impressive as the others, and it really makes a decidedly questionable entry anyway based on the connection to the film at hand. The Bad Entries: The Case of Harry Billings-Brought to an insane asylum, a salesman finds that the operators of the facility are secretly organ-harvesters cutting up their victims for cash and must try to stop them before he becomes part of their plans. For the most part this one here all that impressive an entry here with it being based for so long around a theme that isn't the least bit inviting or intriguing. Showing off the demented staff of the facility and their various torture methods amongst the slew of patients in their care isn't the slightest bit interesting for their methods here, simply chaining them down and electrocuting them, beating them as well as sexually or just plain verbally assaulting them doesn't strike much of a punch here with it being so tame when compared to the aftermath shots that are plentiful around the place including one shot as we do a 360-degree shot around a room utterly littered with severed limbs, body parts and blood-splatter along the walls shows that it could've been showcased rather than what actually happens. A lot of that is due to the scattershot and completely disorienting pacing that completely shots to different plot lines for different patients so it's hard to tell what's really going on so it's nearly impossible to tell what's happening to who. Though it does save itself with a few rather rousing brawling scenes with the orderlies throughout the last half along with some brutal kills and some nice nudity, it's not enough to save this one.Rated R: Graphic Violence, Full Nudity, Language, sexual scenes and drug use.
... View MoreAmicus-wannabe horror anthology that begins with a clip from the worst music video ever before we get to God and Satan sitting on a train telling stories. We'll return to the music video in between each story. The first of these stories is about a man taken to an asylum, where he is hypnotized and forced to go out and bring more people to the asylum to have their organs harvested. Dumb and nasty. The second story is a real trip. A young woman gets involved with a gross guy who quickly has her doing porn. Then some frat boy sees her in one of the pornos and falls in love. So he seeks her out (we have a word for this today) and the two become a thing. But the gangster doesn't like it so he takes them to a club that gets off on deadly Russian roulette-type stunts. Very badly edited and impossible to take seriously. The story's end is told rather than shown. The third story is about a cop and the wife of a famous atheist trying to stop an immortal disciple of Satan. The best of the three stories but still it falls short of its potential by a mile. The oddly-inserted not-so-special effects sequences ruin any atmosphere or suspense. The cast is stocked with mostly unrecognizable faces. Among the few exceptions are John Phillip Law, Ferdy Mayne, Night Court's Richard Moll (playing two roles), and Hollywood vets Cameron Mitchell and Marc Lawrence (he's special, he gets two death scenes). The dialogue is terrible with many unintentionally funny lines and exchanges. An example is early in the first story when the nurse enters the room and the doctor asks her how the new patient is. She responds "Belligerent, as usual." To which the doctor replies "He's a VERY handsome man." What? Oscar-winning screenwriter Philip Yordan is credited with the script. I have no idea what his excuse was for this but it must have been a doozy. Poor acting and directing, ugly aesthetics, laughable narration, an obtrusive music score, and even a joke of a martial arts fight scene. Trash enthusiasts will like to hear there are cheesy stop-motion effects, cheap gore, a break dancing interlude, and topless women throughout. It's a weird movie, for sure, and one with more than a little bit of "so bad it's good" appeal. I've read that it was cobbled together from three other movies, which makes a lot of sense given the poor editing where scenes cut from one to the other and skip over anything that resembles a natural transition. The whole thing appears to have been financed by the change producer/director Jay Schlossberg-Cohen found in his couch. It's garbage but there are some laughs to be had at its expense, if you are in the right sort of mood when you see it.
... View MoreSatan (Tony Giorgio) and God (Ferdy Mayne) are sitting on a train discussing whether man is evil, and this is the backdrop wherein three films have parts taken out and used in an anthology on the subject. The first segment is from Marilyn Alive and Behind Bars (aka Scream Your Head Off), about a man (John Phillip Law) who jumps off a bridge after killing his wife while driving drunk. It didn't make a lot of sense, and jumped all over the place, but it had a lot of blood and nudity. It also had Richard Moll from "Night Court" with hair in the only movie I have seen him in.In the second segment from Carnival of Fools (aka Death Wish Club), Rick Barnes, who was also in the first film, falls in love with Gretta (Merideth Haze), who was a mistress of a rich man (J. Martin Sellers), who didn't take kindly to being dumped. It had some gruesome effects, but a little weird. The final segment has Cameron Mitchell as a policemen facing Satan. Great looking devil. It was an interesting anthology except for the irritating Hanson-type band and their break dancing.
... View MoreI remember having seen "Night Train to Terror" on VHS twelve or thirteen year ago when I was a kid. This trippy and disjointed celluloid nightmare was sewn from condensed version of low-budget horror movies "Death Wish Club","Cataclysm" and an at-the-time unfinished 1982 film "Scream Your Head Off".The campy discussions between God and Satan takes place on a train known both as the Heavenly Express and Satan's Canonball since it carries unknowing souls to one or the other destination. In the first story "The Case of Harry Billings" a man is kidnapped and taken to an insane asylum were he is put under hypnosis and lures victims to become tortured and murdered as part of an organ-harvesting operation. The second story "The Case of Gretta Connors" entails two young lovers who become involved in a sinister cult of people fascinated with death. The final story "The Case of Claire Hansen" involves an apprentice to the Devil who is out to destroy mankind and a group of immortals who are out to stop him.Very amusing and and inept horror film perfect for the lovers of cinematic trash.8 out of 10.
