Josie Geller, a baby-faced junior copywriter at the Chicago Sun-Times, must pose as a student at her former high school to research contemporary teenage culture. With the help of her brother, Rob, Josie infiltrates the inner circle of the most popular clique on campus. But she hits a major snag in her investigation -- not to mention her own failed love life -- when she falls for her dreamy English teacher, Sam Coulson.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

Okay, so before I start I would like to make it clear that I saw this movie late on in life, and it's already considered kind of old, which I'm sure has had a huge impact on my judgment of the film... I know that this is a hugely loved film by many women (and some men I know, for that matter) so I don't mean to upset any cult followers with my rating of it, but unfortunately by the time I saw this film there was nothing really unique about it. It's all been done before, and after having been given so many good reports, I guess my expectations were just too high. I love Drew Barrymore, I think she's a great actress, but this can hardly be considered one of her finest roles (that's not a complaint, by the way, just saying). So really I don't feel that I've missed out on much. In the film Drew had to wait until she was nearly 25 to get the kiss of her dreams, I had to wait that long to see this movie, and like the kiss, some things are kind of over rated.

Drew Barrymore brings immense likability to any role she plays, and this romantic comedy from 1999 is a prime example of this. It's a decent film, backed up by some good supporting actors who have gone onto bigger things.I think it's a bit slow in places though, and that the first five minutes don't really grab you. It's a sweet enough film though and if you're a fan of Barrymore then this is a good example of how good she can be in this sort of goofy/sweet hearted role.

Y'know this movie will make you sigh a lot because most scene's are depressing. Drew Barrymores character always gets bad luck and even near the ending! She really lets other people put her down for who she is and it's like so unfair! She really did act like ugly duckling the whole time and it's like she's a nobody! C'mon, evil people for example sex offenders or killers should be ignored, not like an innocent people like Josie. It really does related to how bullying is cruel and dangerous to one persons mental health. I suppose that's why she was smiling a lot because she was devastated inside. She is who she is, I would love to have her as a friend!I did find it funny in some scenes but it was too serious really to be laughing the whole way through!

Never Been Kissed The hardest part of going back to high school undercover is getting your acne to flare up again.Luckily, the undercover journalist in this romantic-comedy has her virginity to draw upon.Sent back to high school by her editor (Garry Marshall) to get the scoop on today's youth, Josie (Drew Barrymore) jumps at the chance to show her skills. But the thought of returning jogs her own high school memories of being a loser.Unable to escape that categorization again, she's lumped with bully target Aldys (Leelee Sobieski).Meanwhile, Josie has her first romantic relationship with a teacher (Michael Vartan), who believes her to be a student.Despite the earmarks of a typical rom-com, Never Been Kissed exceeds its own classification with smart writing and astute observations on the teenage animal.Incidentally, "I thought he/she was an undercover journalist" is a good excuse for any teacher accused of sexual interference.Green Light vidiotreviews.blogspot.com
