It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

Mulan II, the direct-to-video sequel to the Disney hit Mulan, begins with the title character becoming engaged to General Shang. Before they can begin a life of wedded bliss, they must escort a trio of princesses to weddings of their own in order to facilitate a peace between warring nations. Mulan begins to believe her mission may be less than noble upon discovering that the women are being forced into arranged marriages against their will. Mulan ends up opposing her beloved General Shang in order to fight for what is right. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi. Is not as good as the first film but it's still pretty entertaining because it's focused more on the relantionships of the characters and the humor instead of the action. Pretty entertaining for a direct to DVD movie but for sure not better than the Original.

**SPOILERS IN REVIEW***One of the more disappointing Disney sequels. Three princesses are set to be married. None of them are happy about this - OK, great. This story line could be going somewhere! Wait...what happened by the end of it? Well, all 3 of them plus Mulan got married. Not to who they were going to be forced to marry, but married nevertheless. This is terrible. I expected better from Disney writers. The fact there were 3 Princesses, they had so much potential to run with. They could've made only one (maybe even 2) Princess decide she didn't want to marry because she fell in love with ONE of Mulan's friends along the way. That would've been fine, it still tells people to listen to their heart. But, THREE?! All three of them decided the soul purpose to run away from being forced into an unwanted marriage, purely because they wanted to marry someone else? Where is the sense in this. Romance was their only motivation to not mindlessly sell themselves off. The THREE Princesses only seem to even be in this movie to serve as 'other halves' for Mulan's 3 old army friends. It could've been wonderful if they left at least one Princess or two, who decided she/they didn't want to marry, because they simply didn't want to be forced into love at all. They could be happy being single. They could've wanted to work. They could've wanted to take over the emperor's position some day and care for the country without having to fall in love and have children (I know they're royals, but if one sister married one of Mulan's friends like I say that wouldn't be a problem for them). They ruined a potentially good storyline. But this scores 4, as the animation was still good. The story concept COULD have been great, but wasn't used properly. So, it wasn't.

The first movie was a great movie, but it was held back by a few major flaws.1. Mushu 2. The Mulan man voice 3. The not needed romance Now take those flaws, times them by a thousand, and you have this movie. Mushu is even more annoying here then in the first movie which is saying a lot. Now get this. This movie such an greedy cash grab that Eddie Murphy didn't even want to be in it. The guy who said yes to Shrek the Third, Norbit, and Pluto Nash didn't want to waste his time with this sh*t. Now that is sad. The guy who got to play him is 100 times more annoying. Every second I hear that voice I feel my hand getting closer to a gun. The man voice isn't in this movie (Thank you). Then again the stupid not needed romance in the first movie is the main focus in this. The fact is they did not have to give Mulan a romance. The real Mulan did not fall in love with one of the people she fought alongside. The movie was trying to inspire little girls to be more than just girls, but no Mulan has to get married like every last woman in Disney. Although at least in the first movie we didn't know what was going to happen to their relationship. So you can make whatever you wanted to out of the future, but this movie shows up to tell us that everything went all OK. Kiss my @$$!!!! Also the songs just like every other Disney sequel aren't impressive at all. The characters lack as much personality, and the jokes suck. Overall this movie is just a mess.0 stars out of 4

the original Mulan was an excellent animated film.it had an epic quality to the story, and was fun and exciting.this sequel-not so much.i found the story pretty small in scope and fairly lame.there weren't a lot of fun moments in it either.and it drags on.and on.and on.i nodded off a few times but somehow managed to finish the movie.but really, what a disappointment.i guess that shouldn't be surprising given the track record Disney has with releasing excellent theatrical movies and then capitalising on that success with sub par DTV(direct to video sequels)still this is not as bad as many DTV'S that Disney has released.for me Mulan II is a 4/10
