Moonwalker Trailers

Moonwalker is a 1988 American experimental anthology musical film starring Michael Jackson. Rather than featuring one continuous narrative, the film expresses the influence of fandom and innocence through a collection of short films about Jackson, some of which are long-form music videos from Jackson's 1987 album Bad. The film is named after his famous dance, "the moonwalk", which he originally learned as "the backslide" but perfected the dance into something no one had seen before. The movie's introduction is a type of music video for Jackson's "Man in the Mirror" but is not the official video for the song. The film then expresses a montage of Michael's career, which leads into a parody of his Bad video titled "Badder", followed by sections "Speed Demon" and "Leave Me Alone". What follows is the biggest section where Michael plays a hero with magical powers and saves three children from Mr. Big. This section is "Smooth Criminal" which leads into a performance of "Come Together".

SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

I remember my grandmother buying me this as a small boy. I watched it so much I nearly wore out the tape! Sadly, time has not been kind to it. The whole bunny rabbit claymation scene is tedious and the re-imagining of the Bad video with children is just... bad. Then there's the utterly ludicrous story, written by Jackson himself, where he turns into a car, a robot and a spaceship, with a rather embarrassing Joe Pesci performance. Michael Jackson was the biggest star in the world by far in the 80's. Otherwise, this nonsense would NEVER have been green-lit. So, why do I now own the DVD? Two words. Smooth Criminal. That sequence is for me the pinnacle of his 'short films.' Yes, I've seen Thriller but I'll still take Smooth Criminal every time. The insane choreography, the music, the dancing... Who hasn't tried to do THAT lean? Jacko's writing and acting might have been lacking, but man, the guy could move. When I had it on VHS, it was my favourite part of the movie. Now it's the only part I watch. I do like the video for Leave Me Alone, though. Michael pretty much revolutionised music vids in the 80's, and this is one of his lesser known but very original videos. If, like me, you can remember the glory days of Michael, and were a big fan, then by all means revisit this. If not, move along sharply.

I am not here to write a review, I am here to express an emotion that I felt while watching the "Moonwalker".Michael Jackson's Moonwalker is not a story with a plot and a happy/sad ending. This is a personal thought expressed through art. Michael's introverted personality would urge him at times to express his views and personal feelings through featuring films, along with lyrics and music composition. The Moonwalker is an idea that has been exposed; it is one of Michael's manifold forms of expressing his inner, childhood and unexplored-yet world. If you expect to watch a well scripted "movie", then the Moonwalker will disappoint you.A personal connection to Michael, as a man who struggled deeply and inside, would get you to see the language of expression he chose for the Monwalker: selected songs from his up-to-1988 discography, cartoon characters which, in my opinion, are selected mindfully, a chained short sequencing to transition between songs/clips and, Michael's known trait; the magic of shooting stars, kids, fantasies of transformation from a human to something else (I won't give spoilers!). Escapism, fantasy, magic, excitement and lots of fun and anticipation are used in the Moonwalker to tell the audience: "Hey! This is me, Michael Jackson, offering a little piece of what is going on inside my head and heart, for so long. I may not express it all too well, but I invite you all to come to terms of who is Michael Jackson, the human being, full of dreams and visionary images."I loved the Moonwalker because it simply allowed me to read Michael Jackson through a somewhat different artistic medium - movie; an artist with a unique expressed language, and lots of inner doubts and insecurities (I guess we all have those!!).In Michael Jackson's ideal world, we are all invited to fight the good fight, i.e. peacefully, using art. His way to "change the world" starts from changing the man - he. He might very well tried to say: "I found my inner call - music and dancing - to change the world, what about you?" But then, just as magical as the man has been, he wouldn't express anything explicitly and would trust the audience intelligence to read the message on their own. Michael Jackson's mission would not show you how to "moonwalk" in life, instead, it would probably inspire you to start walking your own journey.I have been MJ's life time fan. He has inspired me so deeply at a very early age to learn English, for the love of his songs. I have learned every word, every verb, every preposition, adjective, adverb and sentence structure just in hopes to understand what he was saying! But as I got over the surface of the language he uses - English - I realized that MJ's powerful language was not English, it was Love to ALL. May your soul rest in Peace - the true King of music and hearts.

This movie is one of the best I have ever enjoyed. Now I know what you're thinking. "This guy is doing this as a joke this movie sucks". Well the fact is I am telling my true opinion here. Michael Jackson kicks ass, and any haters can stop reading now. He is one of my favorite singers for a number of reasons. The main reasons why he kicks ass is....1.His brilliant singing.2.His awesome dance abilities.3.Creative music videos.4.His lyrics make an actual story. These days music is lazy. For example look at Lady Gaga. She lets a machine sing for her. She has no dance abilities. Her music videos try to be weird to be cool, but in the end they are messes. Her lyrics are moronic only surrounding three things sex, drugs, and being weird. I could make better lyrics than her with my eyes closed. MJ had songs that told stories not summaries of what happened at a college party. Today music is bland. Now after bashing Gaga fans I'm ready to talk film. It starts with MJ performing in a concert "Man in the Mirror". It is a wonderfully edited scene capturing the songs brilliance. It also shows how crazy his fans were about him perfectly. Then we move on to a montage of all the different songs in his career starting with The Jackson 5. Then we reach a cheesy, but an extremely enjoyable scene where MJ is getting chased by stop motion animation fans. Then we get a music video called "Leave Me Alone". It has great surreal images about how MJ is constantly mobbed by the media. It is a great scene. Now we reach the actual story. The plot is about a man trying to get all the kids in the world hooked on drugs. It is simply, but it supplies all it needs to. The effects are great, the direction is good, and I think MJ is actually a good actor. The highlight by far is the "Smooth Criminal" music video. It is simply the definition of awesome. The dancing is choreographed to perfection, the cinematography is brilliant, and you got MJ bringing his great singing voice. It is for sure one of the best scenes in film history. It all ends with MJ singing "Come Together". He remakes the Beatles' classic perfectly. It kicks so much ass I couldn't sit down for a while. This movie is great. So what if it is one big ego trip. MJ deserves to have an inflated ego. Now that he is dead music is done for. The next generation will grow up to garbage like Lady Gaga and The Black Eyed Peas. It is a sad looking future for music. At least the world has memories like this movie.4 stars out of 4

And I don't say it in a bad way.I watched this movie at the cinema when I was 6 or 7. For me and my cousins it was magical, beautiful and scary at the same time. When we left the theatre, Michael was our best friend even though we knew he had no idea about it.Over the years, I saw this movie being aired a few times but I always changed the channel. Even seeing a few seconds of it would bring back that feeling of magic and warm my heart. And I liked it that way.So I've only seen this movie once and I believe it was a good decision not to watch it again. If I saw it today, I know I couldn't help but criticise MJ's acting, the plot (if there was one) and this and that. For me this is a childhood memory, so my feelings towards it are those of a child from 20 years ago.I see my adult self intervenes in my rating and gives it an 8 for the memories and wonderful music. For that little kid who watched it in awe 20 years ago though, this is definitely worthy of a 10.
