Wonderful character development!
... View MoreIt's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
... View MoreIt's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.
... View MoreThere's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
... View MoreEntertaining behind the scenes documentary on Asylum Haunted Scream Park. The site is a sprawling 40 acres outside Louisville, with four dedicated horror areas. Doc follows Rich and Janel, a well adjusted enough couple, and their labors to get everything in place before opening day. Surprise visits by inspectors, backstabbing rival horror parks, rain and more rain, temperamental actors - including one who seems borderline certifiable, complaining business partners, equipment malfunctions, running out of money, as the opening deadline shrinks from months to weeks to days to hours. You wonder how they can possibly get it done. Will hold your interest from start to finish, might even plant the urge to get out Halloween night. For anyone who is a repeat customer of haunted parks, for anyone who ever worked a Midnight Mansion, for anyone who took a stab creating their own Death House*, this film ought to be in your queue.
... View MoreBefore I go forward with this review I feel I must point out that I am not a big fan, nor follower, of Holloween or Horrer culture. Also I am not the biggest fan of documentaries. With that being said this was actually a very good film. I seen it at the world premiere held at fandom fest in Louisville Ky. I found myself submerged in the people drama, as well as being very intrigued with the underground culture that surrounds me. Between the nail biting deadlines that the characters were trying to make and the education I was receiving in the world of haunted houses, this film very much caught my attention. It was funny, dramatic and even through all the blood, guts and gore, when it was all said and done managed to be heartwarming. I really enjoyed this film and have already recommend it to friends.
... View MoreThis is a wonderful documentary of all the work that goes into making an excellent haunted adventure. The story explains the heartache and trials of getting everything together for the opening night. I had no idea so much went in to the making of a great haunt from the casting, sets, costumes and the incredible physical and financial requirements of the project. It depicts the trials of working together day and night as a team and the downfalls of keeping everybody focused on the end result. This documentary is educational, fun and sometimes downright eerie and is a must see for all who have ever gone to a haunted house. Fantastic!
... View MoreI love documentaries, this one especially because I'm from Louisville & I support anything that makes Louisville more of a major city. Events like Fandom Fest (where the movie was first shown), building places like the KFC Yum center & even much smaller things like local Halloween haunted houses, all work together to create a wonderful city. Without giving anything about the movie away, it's a documentary that capture's a moment in peoples life's, where they say 'enough is enough, I'm all in". It's not scary, except for their money issue, there isn't anything haunting them or spooky ghosts in the woods. Well worth a watch, especially from people that live in LOUISVILLE. You gotta support your city, or your hurting it, by just standing around.
