Slow pace in the most part of the movie.
... View MoreI think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
... View MoreA terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
... View MoreThere's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.

View MoreMiss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous (2005): Dir: John Pasquin / Cast: Sandra Bullock, Regina King, Heather Burns, William Shatner, Ernie Hudson: Fabulous is hardly a word to describe this pathetic geek show about confidence. Sandra Bullock returns as Gracie Hart who moves up to promoting the image of the F.B.I. through talk shows until her beauty pageant friend and emcee are kidnapped. Typical sequel is pointless and stupid. Director John Pasquin does what he can with absolutely nothing. He previously made the creative Christmas comedy The Santa Clause but none of that creative process is featured here. Bullock has been playing this persona her whole career and it's getting old. Her snorting doesn't help any either. Regina King is pretty standard as Bullock's bodyguard whom she will be at odds with before the screenplay throws in the predicted kiss and makeup session. Heather Burns and William Shatner play the kidnap victims but this is probably within their favour seeing that the film sucks and being forced away can only improve their association with it. Ernie Hudson also makes an appearance although it must have occurred to him that this is nowhere near as rewarding as Ghostbusters. While production is passable the screenplay is a by the numbers deals existing because the first overrated junk made money. Lame sequel would make a great object for target practice. Score: 3 / 10
... View MoreThis not a great or classic movie, but I had fun. Making it required thousands of extras and hundreds of stunt men. There is a lot of physical humour and women gratuitously beating up men, to their astonishment. In one scene that made me howl Sandra Bullock poked at Dolly Parton's (playing herself) boobs to see if they were real. In another wonderful scene, Bullock disguises herself as a loopy elderly wisecracking Jewish woman. The makeup is so good, you have to look over and over to reassure yourself it is really her. Diedrich Bader plays a very campy style consultant. He is very over the top but still sympathetic. For such a pansy, he has considerable bravery and spunk. There is an exuberant drag show, again presented positively. One of the ongoing themes, is prior to the movie plot starting, Bullock's boyfriend dumped her. She was too much of a tomboy for him. She can't let him go. The movie teases you into expecting him to show up at some point for a big reconciliation. You give up on this, and wonder if maybe she will pair up with one of the handsome males. No sign of it. The movie ends with her still single. But watch the closing scenes very carefully. She may have paired up after all. It is subtle.William Shatner is in it, but his role is quite small. The amazing thing is he escapes underwater. He seems to be doing the stunt himself, quite remarkable for a man his age. He has a great line "I played Iago in the Twelfth Night" trying to convince kidnappers he has theatrical experience.
... View MoreI love Sandra Bullock and I am a fan of Diedrich Bader, but this was one of the worst movies I have ever sat through in my entire life. A fine cast wretchedly served by whoever was responsible for extruding this cowpat of a film. The drop-off from Caddyshack to Caddyshack II is known as the industry standard for Sequel Wretchedness, but in my book, the falloff from the wonderful "Miss Congeniality" to this...thing... is even steeper. There is really nothing else to say about this film, but reviews here require ten lines, and that was only four, so I will recapitulate my opinion: this film is so utterly devoid of worth that the best performance was probably Miss Congeniality star Benjamin Bratt's inaudible phoned-in breakup with Sandra Bullock's character. Certainly Bratt's judgment in sitting this one out is superior to that of any other person associated with this unmentionable excrescence, this waste of perfectly good celluloid, this quintessence of crap. I could be bound in a nutshell watching Plan 9 from Outer Space and count myself king of infinite, well, Outer Space, in comparison to sitting in my comfy bouncy American triple-butt-wide Monster Megaplex seat with the photons emitted from this scientific experiment in boresomeness optimization eye-raping me and my innocent confreres. Do I convey my point? Do you get the gist? This is a bad movie. There. That must be ten lines.
... View MoreThe first film was likable funny, but this sequel from director John Pasquin (The Santa Clause) does not follow the same format in any way. Basically clumsy FBI agent Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) is recognised during a big bust, as many people remember her saving the life of Cheryl Frasier (Heather Burns), working undercover at the Miss United States Pageant. She is asked by her boss FBI Asst. Director Harry McDonald (Ghostbusters' Ernie Hudson) to become the face of the FBI, giving a positive face, and promoting her book on TV. Gracie's friends Cheryl, and pageant host Stan Fields (William Shatner) are kidnapped in Las Vegas, but the FBI aren't taking Gracie seriously to let her investigate. Gracie follows many clues for her own investigation to find Cheryl and Stan, with her bodyguard Sam Fuller (Regina King) who for a while can't stand her. After a long while of fighting and bickering, Gracie and Sam do eventually make up and work together, and they are trying everything to go against their orders and find the kidnappers and their victims themselves. Also starring Treat Williams as FBI Asst. Director Walter Collins and Enrique Murciano as Jeff Foreman. I agree with critics, if it weren't for Bullock this film would be pretty much a complete waste of time, but it isn't, there are one or two good giggles to be liked. Okay!
