Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) is a girly-girl. She adorns herself in shades of pink. She color-coordinates everything in her life, from her dog's matching outfits to her stationery. She lives for the love of a boyfriend and she lives by the bible of her personal cosmetocracy-"Cosmo".She is the Cinderella of this fairy tale, so it's no surprise that she gets her prince in the end (sort of). And the problems of her fairy tale world melt away like pink gumdrops under a sherbet sun.But don't dismiss this film as cinematic fluff, not entirely. Because Elle transforms before our eyes into something more than a princess. She becomes something more than she even knew she hoped to be-a woman empowered. This is an enjoyable journey-primarily due to Reese Witherspoon's incredible characterization.Much like Alicia Silverstone's portrayal of Cher in "Clueless", Elle embraces her quirky individuality and makes the most of it. And she learns to accept her own intelligence as valuable. It's unfortunate that the script sees the man-woman dynamic as a zero sum game, and feels it must unnecessarily belittle men in the process of lifting women up. It is possible to create really positive transformations in characters of both genders; it just takes a little more work and a more nuanced approach.Still, Elle is a very likable character, full of optimism and a sunny disposition. It is fun to see her succeed because she is a good person. It is no surprise that this film was very successful.

Do not take this movie seriously. Legally Blonde is a kooky comedy that delivers what it says on the packet. Reese Witherspoon is fine as Elle Woods, an apparently airhead blonde who goes to law school to get back at her jock ex-boyfriend, who thinks she's brainless. Initially a laughing stock due to her ditzy dress and manner, Elle wins everyone over and gains self respect by studying hard and winning the trust of her socialite client in a murder case. A big plus for me is the fact that Jennifer Coolidge plays Elle's best friend - a beautician with a crush on the postman. Basically Coolidge is hilarious. Even when she grimaces she's funny. Like Luke Wilson, who plays Elle's love interest, Coolidge is an under-estimated actor. The movie's 'message' of not judging people (i.e. blondes) by their appearances is nice, but a little unconvincing, considering Elle seems to place high value on beauty and appearances, And that there are not many normal looking or non white people in the cast. But again, don't analyse Legally Blonde too deeply. It's a nice chick flick. Enjoy it during a relaxing night at home.

I've seen it countless times and still laugh out loud every time! At the same time, it's motivational and emotional - girl power! Reese Witherspoon is absolutely wonderful. The cast and crew researched a lot for their roles and making the sets looks realistic, which definitely paid off. I also remember loving the soundtrack when it first came out, and the songs are still nostalgic and uplifting.

Witherspoon's role as Elle Woods seems like it was made for her. She emanated the rich spoiled girl, an over-achiever, a go-getter but dumb. Or so everyone thinks. This is a perfect feel-good movie that should be seen by teens to let them know that it's not too late to reach their potential if they put their mind into it.But then again, only if you have the beauty, the money, the luck, and connections. Huh. What do you know. I just contradicted myself.Nevertheless, I enjoyed the movie. :)
