The only reason I got this movie out was because of the extraordinary number of awards it seemed to have won. I will never base my movie hiring on that basis again after this. The acting of the two main characters is awful but I suspect that has as much to do with the editing than their acting skills. The guy they meet in the prison in Veitnam is convincing but apart from that it comes across exactly like the stories I hear of American tourists around the world. I hope there is not a sequel or that these guys don't try to make any more films. There are some great shots of the scenery but it's been shot so much better in so many travel documentaries that this is not a saving grace. Please do not waste your money on this film.

What an ingenious way to make a film. Mandt, the director of this film, made this movie with a brief outline and a lot of guts. He traveled to countless countries, taught amazingly interesting locals how to act and somehow managed to make an engaging film in the process. The movie is about two friends that travel the world, spreading the ashes of a dead friend everywhere they go and posing as writers for Frommers travel guides in order to scam free hotel rooms. It's about storytelling above all else. Just interesting, funny and touching stories about traveling. I heard that most of the stories are true, which makes this film even better. The editor of the movie even acts in it. When you watch the film, it's hard to tell that it isn't just reality. But you learn from the credits, that it took a lot of rehearsal from the locals to get them to act in the scenes. I don't want to spoil the movie. Just go see it. It's a very enriching experience.

Oh yeah, this is a rad movie. My friend told me to check it out, and I'm glad I did cause man, it's the best. The story follows two back packers who are on a quest to put their friend's ashes in as many countries as possible. On the way they meet a ton of funny characters and lots of cool things happen. This movie seriously had me laughing so hard out loud that I couldn't believe it. The stories people tell about their different travels are so funny and the fact that they travel to the different countries and show the actual locations makes it just completely amazing. I've watched this movie 3 times already. Whoever is reading this should definitely watch it too. It's just that good.

I saw this movie at a film festival with a couple friends. We didn't really know what to expect, but by the end we were all loving it. The movie is filmed documentary style and follows two travelers as they trace the globe. The story is great and so are the actors. My favorite thing about the movie though is how it was made. The director and the other actors flew around the world and got the people they met in other countries to act in the movie. I mean, can you imagine that? Walking up to total strangers and getting them in your movie. That really takes guts and it took an already great film to the next level. It amazed me at how well the acting was. Just goes to prove what you can accomplish with a good director. I really enjoyed this movie and all the gorgeous shots of the world that it contained.
