... View MoreDr. Lewis Shaler (Dougray Scott) is riding a late night London train with his seven year old son Max (Joshua Kaynama) Max is a bit rambunctious and through him he meets another passenger, the flirty Sarah (Kara Tointon). We get to know these characters as we watch others, especially a disagreeable young man (Iddo Goldberg) who catches everyone's attention. Soon the train has a problem which demands the remaining passengers take action. We then get to meet two elderly passengers (David Schofield, Elaine Middleton). The passengers work together to confront the problem. We get to see character testing, character building, and some heroics. The acting was good. The plot and action was enough to hold my attention, but not enough to get excited over. Most films of this type have a subplot consisting of events that are taking place outside the train. This one does not. This is more of a concept film that keeps the viewer on the train.A film you will forget shortly after you watch it.Parental Guide: F-bomb. No sex or nudity.
... View MoreThe characters were very sweet and likable. The film was suspenseful and mysterious, and slowly but surely built to an exciting action climax. The film is essentially about a man on a suicide mission and the people along the way for the ride, although not by choice. We never really see the suicidal driver or learn anything about him, but the film really is more about the victims and how they react and act in desperate times. Dougray Scott made a credible hero. The film features some really great visual effects.I really enjoyed this.
... View MoreThought it would be more action packed based on the poster, But it was mores suspenseful like Duel on a train or the Hitcher on a train.A weird story about an unknown villain who hijacks a train that still has 6 passengers on it as the train speeds its way to the last stop. These passengers have to figure out what's going on so they can get off. It's all about the tension of this moment. It unites them from strangers to allies it brings out their dark sides and shows what their made of.Very different from what was expected but very good. Hitchcock good.
... View MoreThis review is a little pre-emptive as I've ordered the film but as yet only seen the trailer. As an ex-railway man and lifelong rail enthusiast, I'm drawn to any film that features British trains and, good or bad, simply have to see them myself. Normally if British trains are used in films there is usually a major fault with how they look (a couple of UK sitcoms suffer from this). From what I saw in the trailer, they have the look of this one pretty spot-on. It is obviously a Southern Region 4CEP, 4CIG or something of that ilk which were used on lines from London to the Kent coast until the last few years. I've read the other reviews, good and bad, and am prepared to form my own opinion on viewing the movie. So far it looks impressive and I've given a reasonable rating purely on the preview.
