There's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.

What a mess... It was long and boring even before they arrived in the island. And then the movie evolved into a video game. It was like trying to pass level after level battling the threats that had the shape of almost every animal menace ever appeared in a sci-fi bi movie: Big spiders, big ants, big scorpions, big flesh eating plants, big dinosaurs, smaller dinosaurs, big bats, they even touched "Alien" with some kind of larvae/eggs thingies. Realism? ok you do not expect much realism in a movie with all of the above, but well it was completely unbelievable how the humans survived this hell of monsters. Not to mention the natives of the island, who apparently only worried about Kong and miraculously have survived the bazillion of the other threats. As for the characters? All caricatures. Even the bugs acted better. The one character with some development was King Kong.I strongly recommend the 1933 movie. Less CGI but more heart. Hell, even the Jessica Lange remake was better..

King Kong is a fantastic film. I was blown away even though I went in with high expectations. This is a tour de force work behind the camera by Peter Jackson who directs the monster epic and adds his own touches. There is action, suspense, drama and most importantly heart wrenching romance. I dare anyone to not have a tear in their eye in the last 20 minutes. The special effects are absolutely amazing and more importantly- never do they detract from the progression of the story. I was blown away by the T-Rex VS Kong battle, the Dino stampede and some of the earlier rather creepy scenes. But it is the scenes between Ann Darrow and Kong that touch you the most and a particular one in central park in the snow is a highlight. This is a must watch, a surefire classic of the future. But beware- at roughly 3 hours its long. But each minute is artistic perfection.

Peter Jackson's 2005 King Kong stands the test of time. With a 3 hour long run time, the audience gets almost everything they would want out of a "Kong" movie. Where the majority of my criticisms come from are all prior to when they land on the "Skull Island", so lets start there. We meet our main characters in the first act, Naomi Watts and Jack Black. We find out that Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts) is an aspiring actress, trying to make it big time. On the other hand we have Carl Denham (Jack Black) a crazy director that will do anything to get his movie made. Naturally they find each other and decide to embark on the mission to get a movie made. While the set up is fine, the story lacks any believable dialogue. The movie continues to suffer from this throughout the rest of the run time but is specifically bad in the first act. Once we get through the introductions of the characters , the movie really takes off. It is no wonder that this film won the Oscar for best Visual Effects in 2005, because once we get to the island you can see them in full form. The creatures on this island all look gorgeous, including Kong. And because of the great effects and action scenes, this is the peak of the movie. Characters don't need to rely on the sub par dialogue anymore. The action on hand keeps your eyes glued to the screen. From this point on, the movie is a blast to watch. The actors give great performances, the action scenes are fun and the score from James Newton Howard carries the film.If you love getting lost in a fun monster movie, watch King Kong. It is reminiscent of it's 1933 original, but still takes risks. I enjoyed myself through a majority of this film.

I am sure, there are a few jumping the shark moments ...Personally, I loved the movie. It was much better then the 1970s one. I totally recommend to any film buff. Stands much higher then the rest of the genre. Those that gave bad reviews...well, get a life as a producer. Good popcorn movie.SPOILERS ALERTbrontosaurus run , movie star vine roping in with machine gun to save the day.
