Too much of everything

it is finally so absorbing because it plays like a lyrical road odyssey that’s also a detective story.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

I'd been obsessed with NDE for a while and this film is giving me a new perspective. The film unexpectedly takes a spiritual turn of events after a scientific perspective.

I loved the original movie Flatliners. It's nice to see Kiefer Sutherland back in this version but it's in no way a sequel, he's a totally different character (who is not in this movie enough in my opinion) and this is a remake or re-imagining or however you want to label it.This movie isn't bad but it's not very good either. It's just coasting off the original like so many remakes do in recent years. The original had an amazing cast and a lot of charm. It wasn't brilliant by any means but it was much more original and easier to buy into than this one.

It's not the worst movie ever made but after a promising start it gets quite dull rather quickly. James Norton and Ellen Page are really good actors but are pretty much wasted in this (Ellen gets the most "drama" but even then it's relatively yawn). The rest of the cast are either flat or in Kiersey Clemmons case, really quite poor.I enjoyed the original because it was dark, tense and scary in parts, unfortunately this one didn't have any of those elements and the story just petered out rather than building up. This one seems to lack any impact at all, it's pretty forgettable.If, like me, you're seeing it for free on a movies package, then it's ok (but even then my attention did start to wander) but I wouldn't bother paying for it and I'm certainly glad I didn't make the trip to the cinema that I had originally planned.If you've not seen the original 1990 film, then give that one a go - it's got a great cast and has a stylish feel, even though it's probably pretty low budget comparative to modern movies.

If only I would have laid down for a proper nap I might've felt better. After struggling to stay awake after maybe 45 minutes I finally shut this off. I give it 3 stars just out of respect for Ellen Page who usually makes better choices in her films. Don't bother with this, take a nap instead.
