SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?
... View MoreGood , But It Is Overrated By Some
... View MoreThe film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
... View MoreIt is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
... View MoreThe story line of this movie is absolutely terrible, and somewhat predictable. It seems that every Australian horror film of this nature follows the same very average formula. Useless bloke from the city, and so many obvious opportunities that would have turned a 1.5 hour movie into 15 minutes. Reasonable acting though, let down by a very poor story line.Time I think to start writing scripts, because this wouldn't be hard to surpass.
... View MoreYou know how you can always tell a cheap movie? When opening scenes are dominated by either/both prolonged shots of trees either aerial or ground level and prolonged shots of car moving on roadway either car level w/occupants small talking or aerial. Talk about unimaginative filler! Then we have the stereotyped back country baddies. I'm sure you can visualize the typecasting already. Yes, people die as usual and someone escapes - as mostly usual. What's even cheaper, but thank goodness, is the producers didn't budget in any prosthetic scenes of the actual dispatching of a person - left to your cost saving imagination.
... View MoreWell, I for one, quite enjoyed this movie. It was an unexpected pleasure. I didn't go in with high hopes and was pleasantly surprised.I think that what I enjoyed most about it was the fact that it wasn't full of Hollywood schlock. There were some intense scenes that I never would expect to see in a big-budget Hollywood film. I say kudos for straying beyond the norm in this regard.I've seen quite a few reviews that complain about the non-linear storytelling and use of flashbacks. I'm not sure what the big deal is. Lots of movies do this. It wasn't too difficult to understand what was happening. As for the ambiguous ending, I'm completely okay with it. It seems like some of those people that complain about open-ended endings and non-linear storytelling insist on having their entertainment spoon-fed to them. Personally, I like that I was made to think a bit about what might have been.I'm kind of hoping for a sequel; Killing Ground II: The Adventures of Ollie and Banjo. This one, of course, would be a family film about a toddler and a dog who travel around solving mysteries.
... View MoreKILLING GROUND is another nasty, realistic, grubby little horror film from Australia in which the horror comes from man rather than a mythical creation. I don't know, after watching the likes of the WOLF CREEK films, this, and SNOWTOWN, you'd never want to visit the country! The story is about a couple of hikers who stumble upon a crime scene and are soon pursued by some very unpleasant characters. It's an obviously low budget story that suffers a little from some confused narrative touches (the mingling of past and present storylines early on is a bad choice) but generally works in a small-scale way. There's enough suspense to see it through, as well as some shocking and hard-hitting violence. The story gets more entertaining as it goes on and it all becomes tension-packed towards the climax. It's hardly a great film, but I'd say that it achieves what it sets out to do.
