It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

Now when I say "teenage 'Blow (2001)'" I don't mean as it's juvenile and adults won't find anything of value here, quite the opposite actually. The movie feels very adult, plenty of swearwords and nudity and such and a typical Scorcese like voice-over (without ever feeling cheesy or unnatural) and a good story and competent acting.Jonathan Daniel Brown is very good in the lead but my favorite performance comes from Aaron Yoo as a menacing rival of his.The only 'bad thing' I can say is that, it could have dug deeper into the characters; the female characters are all pretty empty and most are only there for eye-candy and the movie is low budget and it shows and feels like it was shot in a couple weeks at the most.Comparing it to 'Blow (2001)' might get your hopes a little too high I know realise, it doesn't have the feeling of a epic trials and tribulations of a drug kingpin which that had but I mean it's definitely above average when it comes to these sorts of movies. And it most definitely entertains from start to finish with plenty of humor to go with the based on a true story.7.5/10, a stellar recommendation.

Movies based on a true story always have more of my attention then others. And when they are well made like this one then you can't go wrong watching it. The story of a couple of potheads trying to make money by importing top of the league marijuana from Canada to the United States. An easy but also dangerous way of getting rich in no time. They should stop when they had enough but once you get so much money you only want more. It makes you wonder why the government doesn't just legalize the whole thing and make a sh*tload of money out of it. Plus it's just weed, nothing bad at all about that, not like alcohol that destroys more lives then you could imagine. Anyways, I enjoyed the whole movie, all actors were good and the story was good as well. I recommend it!

I personally thought this movie was amazing. Of course it has some Hollywood exaggerations but what movie doesn't? I personally don't smoke myself but found this movie very entertaining and well written. I recommended watching this movie and the fact that it is based on a true story makes it that much better. I love the actors in this movie. Other reviews state that the movie wasn't funny but it wasn't meant to be a comedy..... Although there is a few parts that made me laugh. It's a great story and a great documentary. I feel the other reviewers were really hard on this movie and I don't understand why but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I recommend this movie 100%. Even I wasn't sure about it based on its title but it surprised me and I'm glad I gave it a chance.

It'd be nice if someone could make some stoner films that aren't filled with clichés/rip offs/stereotypes. Someone wrote in a review that it was like the wolf of wall street but for bud... they're right. But it's not a good thing, you can see what they have imitated very clearly. The weird cop who stops them is a rip off from Super Troopers (he says meow before he walks back to his car for no reason - the game in super troopers). They also casually enforce really bad stoner stereotypes which are the source of the stigma behind smoking cannabis. I could go on. The characters don't feel real. None of them have charisma and I feel like I'm hearing a story from the one kid at school who lies and exaggerates to sound cool and I can't wait for it to be over. I know it's based on true events but it's clearly heavily dramatized and badly written. The only redeeming feature of this film is a couple of famous names I didn't expect to see in such a shocker and some technical knowledge. Emphasis on some.Top ten worst stoner movies.
