Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

If you bother to red thru the reviews, which I often do to attain different perspective on a movie, you might notice for Kate & Leopold, a considerable amount of trashing from women who despise the movie for being misogynistic. Not just a few but dozens of them! I saw it for what it was/is, a romantic comedy. In a time when the world is spinning for men and women, always working, stressed, deadlines, kids, etc, we forgot what true love and romance are. This movie reminds us. Pleasantly and with humor. I know that women hate the idea that they NEED a man to be fulfilled and happy, but in reality, they do. We all need that person. No one was trying to put women down, set them back or put them in their place. That wasn't or isn't the point of this movie. I am sure the current #metoo women out there Hate this movie, but that isn't its intention. It's about stepping back, taking a breather from our crazy life, and remembering that LOVE is the answer. What good is any of this if we can't share it. I have seen the movie 5-6 times over the years and love it every time, cry every time. I dont want to own a woman, and no one in this movie is acting like they do. All this man-hating, women's rights are being set-back is utter nonsense. It's a charming movie, and I would bet any amount of money, that even the most bitter woman out there, feels the same if she were honest.

From 2001, "Kate and Leopold" is a beautiful film about love and time travel, reminiscent of "Berkeley Square" and "Somewhere in Time."An 18th century Duke (Hugh Jackman) follows time-traveler scientist Stuart (Liev Schreiber) in the time portal he's discovered on the Brooklyn Bridge, and winds up in New York in 2001. There, he falls for an advertising executive, Kate McKay (Meg Ryan). This film actually puts forward the theory of quantum physics - past, present, and future going on at once, and it is delightful.I've had the privilege of seeing Hugh Jackman on stage three times. He's one of the most charismatic actors around. Here, as the formal, gentlemanly Duke he is dashing, romantic, gorgeous, and delightful. Meg Ryan, as the bright, ambitious modern Kate, is funny and energetic. People who say Ryan was too old for this film ought to be ashamed of themselves. No one says that when the leading man is way too old for the leading lady, and here that's not even the case. And the criticisms of her hair - I think the director was going for the ultra-modern look of a harried executive. I was not bothered by her lips or her hair. I don't understand tearing someone apart physically. You ought to really think about what happens to the flavor of the month ingenue once she hits 38-40 and open your minds to the fact that these women have a life beyond that.Sorry for the diatribe, but I really enjoyed this, with Breckin Meyer doing a good job as Kate's actor brother, Bradley Whitford as the man she's hoping to replace at work, and Schreiber as her ex-beau, Stuart, who brings chaos into her life.I think people did bring up historical inaccuracies. They all went by me except Leopold's knowledge of "La Boheme," which was written twenty years after Leopold's jump into the present. Not that it matters - it's a romance and a fantasy after all. And it deals with quantum physics, which Carl Jung believed in. Interesting concept.

a compromise between old fashion romantic comedy and the contemporary pink films. so, the basic virtue remains the balance between worlds. like the story. the atmosphere of fairy tale lost in every day reality is an easy and not comfortable solution. and this detail explain the cast. and the motif of time travel. and the humor. and the need to remind the source of meeting. but many of exercises to do credible the subject are far by success. and the strong pillar remains the same Meg Ryan who, like in other occasions, is the ideal choice for save the romantic atmosphere. it is a charming film, great for escape by common temptations/errors of genre. it is a seductive story about a man and a woman, a not ordinary meeting and the final option. all in the right package.

romanticism in pure form. seductive performance by Hugh Jackman. Meg Ryan in her long time role. not very coherent but comfortable. seductive, nice, mixture of fairy tale - the expected prince is only duke - and history. nothing great but interesting because it escapes from many romance clichés, despite the not care for the fast adaptation to the XXI century for the poor Leopold. in many scenes, it seems be the film of one actor and that fact covers many errors of scriptwriter and impose the film as classic. nice and comfortable. that is Kate & Leopold. almost a fresh air because it is not only a romantic story but a seductive modern fairy tale. so, see it ! it could be a kind of soup for soul.
