I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

Big potential but for me a very weak story. No strong point. Just telling story. For Hendrix fans a big disappointment. I feel like seeing this movie was just waste of time, I dint get moved in any way. All the time I was waiting for ,,something,, to happen. BUT The camera, music and actors were really nice. So I guess a nice choice for some thursday movie night... neutral and good looking. But nothing more.

I thought Andre's performance was mesmerising. I have to disagree with those who thought he came across as dull or idiotic. I saw him as a thoughtful, compassionate, free spirit with insightful observations on the world at the time and the attitudes of all he encountered. Totally believable - truly enjoyed it.

The movie missed the opportunity to dive deeper into the music, but decided to focus on the uninteresting relationships.Editing is weird and slow paced. Dialogue was layered on top of alternate dialogue and 40% of the movie is complete silence (people smoking or just staring at things). The movie is 2 hours long, so there is a A LOT of fillers due to the dullness of the script. The script is bull. Hendrix was not aggressive and disrespectful to Kathy, and Clapton was not jealous of Hendrix. As much as I love Hendrix, this film was nothing but and insult to Jimi's legacy. Honestly, the only scene worth watching is the band's performance of Sgt. Pepper's.5/10

The film portraits Hendrix as domestic abuser while in real life supposedly beaten woman denies that and sues filmmakers. There are no evidence that Jimi battered a woman. Also filmmakers did not get permission form artist's family and couldn't use Jimi's music and this is just ridiculous. I really hope that John Ridley will have to pay loads of cash for slandering Hendrix and that he will be laugh at for inaccuracy of biopic and inability to put the right music into a movie. It is sad that performance of Andre 3000 was wasted like that. What a shame. Paying for that movie in any shape or form will mean that basically you gave cash to guy who offended memory of Jimi Hendrix. Please don't do that!
