It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

The storytelling is interesting and fluent, but still need some basic knowledge of Christianity for understanding. Jesus looks drop-dead gorgeous, and I think David is the best actor playing Jesus apart from Robert Powell. When seeing Jesus cured the old lady I burst into tears.But I suppose the storytelling of latter part can be clearer and richer.

I've seen this movie several times, together with almost every friend who was open to see it. The movie is a unexpected surprise for everyone. Viewing a movie over and over could be boring, but this is not the case. I find new beautiful images, philosophical lines of text every time, discovering small interesting things that usually could be found only in a masterpiece. The actors are so good that make you feel inside the story, playing along with them.As for Jesus, played by Florian David Fitz, director, writer and actor in the same time, he might be anytime compared to Robert Powell in Jesus from Nazareth. A movie not to be missed!

After prolific actor Florian David Fitz was the big winner at the German Film Awards for the pretty good "Vincent will Meer", it seemed that writing and starring was still not the end of the line for him. In "Jesus Loves Me", he does not only have the two previously mentioned tasks, but also directed a film for the first time. Apart from that, he plays Jesus Christ. The female main character is played by Jessica Schwarz, who is as likable as talented in my opinion. Most of the supporting cast is played by experienced German actors with a respectably body of work.Sadly this movie rarely succeeds. Most of it was even ridiculous in a bad way. None of the apocalyptic references felt edge-of-the-seat stuff and the confused woman screaming was downright embarrassing. So were the thought that we could hear in the head of Schwarz' character (for example about terrorists) when she meets Jesus for the first time. The cat in the glass with the Devil next to her weren't much better. Maybe the worst part was the inclusion of the song "Nur noch kurz die Welt retten". It became pretty cringeworthy at that point. In the end Schwarz' character meets God himself, which is an okay scene, but not truly great either, just not as bad as most of the rest of the film. It's a bit of a shame as Schwarz constantly selects good roles, but here it did not work out. I hope she will recover because I really do not want to see her waste her talent in cheesy romance novel adaptation on television anytime soon. Anyway, "Jesus Loves Me" is not a good film and therefore I cannot recommend it. Tons of better German movies out there.

Jesus liebt mich (Jesus loves me) is a movie about Jesus (Jeshua) returning to earth in order to prepare apocalypse. Hey meets Marie who reminds him of mother Mary. She introduces him into "her" world which is totally chaotic. She just dumped her fiancé during wedding ceremony, her mother starts a new relationship (with archangel Gabriel) and as she finds out what Jeshua is really up to, she's the only one who can actually stop him from ending humanity. Marie has to convince him humans aren't as bad as it seems as the ending is about to begin....I found the movie quite refreshing and entertaining and I also had to laugh out loud a lot. There are lots of comic aspects and the actors play well. For a German movie I was also quite surprised about the special effects. The story itself is also very critical and should not be taken too seriously.
