This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

First of all, let me tell you that Jaan-E-Mann was not a commercial success although it was a critical success. Actually, Jaan-E-Mann deserved to be a commercial success as well. Jaan-E-Mann is a love triangle of sorts and there is nothing really novel about the story. So how is Jaan-E-Mann still interesting? Because of the way it is told. Jaan-E-Mann is narrated and shown in a beautiful way that -despite being an ordinary story- still makes you guess what will happen and still keeps you interested. A movie with a story like Jaan-E-Mann could be easily be boring and fall flat but Jaan-E-Mann doesn't. Jaan-E-Mann is also very realistic and some of you might feel that this is your own story. Also, Jaan-E-Mann has all the elements you look in a Rom-Com. It is funny and sad and has its share of romantic moments. The songs are great and what I like about the songs are that they don't stop the flow of the story but rather go WITH the story and help carry the story forward. The direction by Shirish Kunder is good. He is an under- rated director. The editing is above average. The script is great as well. The background music is great as well. Now, coming to performances: Anupam Kher, Javed Sheikh, Aman and the rest of the supporting cast were really good. Preity Zinta as Piya was good but was not given enough opportunities in this movie. Now, the hardest decision is to choose who acted better: Salman Khan or Akshay Kumar? Both of them have contrast characters. Salman Khan plays Suhaan who is an arrogant and over- confident guy while Akshay Kumar plays Agastya who is a kind, naive and shy guy. Both of them have great chemistry and play their roles beautifully. The best moments for both them were: Salman Khan: The opening song which shows Suhaan's and Piya's relationship, when he is with his daughter, when he comes to know the truth, when he finds out that Agastya and Piya are engaged and in the epic song, Sau Dard. Akshay Kumar: every time he laughs, every time he goes to woo Piya (you can see his nervousness and excitement), in the song, Ajnabi Sehar, and the scene in front of the mirror when he finds the truth. Also a thing to notice, this role is VERY different from Akshay's usual roles so to perform this role so well is a great achievement. Conclusion: Buy a DVD and watch it.

Jaan-e-Mann is a visual treat. the way the director has told the story is quite awesome..it feels like that director shrewish has finally come up with a great romantic comedy direct from his heart....The story is the same old stuff but the way he has presented it he should be awarded full points for it........along with great music by Anu malik..and also great background music by the playback singers...The chemistry between Salmon khan and akshay kumar is quite innovative...they both look sleek, smart and stylish on the screen.... and akshay has a new look in this film{not a khiladi this time} Preity zinta also as always look awesome in her acting.....there is also anupam Ker and Amman verma who have performed their given roles quite well and were able to put a smile on the audience......Salman and akshay r both looking young and handsome in this film.....and there r few dance steps as well......the story is that suhan{Salmon}is married to preity but gets divorced soon due to problems in her acting career and he has to pay a huge sum amount to preity according to the divorce statement....so he expects an angel who would come in his life and fall in love with preity so he don't have to pay the money......Piya's{Preity} old college friend agastya{akshay} had fallen in love with preity and Salmon finds an angel in him and tries his best to get him married to preity so he don't have to pay the money...they both go to USA in search of pi ya and from this point real story begins.............I've watched this film three times....the emotional scenes surely bring tears in one's eyes.....so this film is a must see for all romantic comedy lovers.........and lovers of Salmon and akshay........

Must watch ! That says it all. Wont be 10/10 on story basis. wont be 10/10 on casting/direction whatever. I am not an expert , But if you are like me who goes to theater to watch movie/spend some good time. This is it.Forget all your presumptions about salman, akshay and preity , They do a brilliant role in the movie. The Camera is handled pretty superbly. The songs are tooo good !. Anu Malik : Great job.The song sequences are picturised in a very innovative way (thou' those kinda innovation have been around for a while, this movie perfectionises it all..).. After a long run of low budget..himesh reshm flicks...this is a truly good movie..to watch...I recommend !!..

I cannot understand why i wasted my precious 50 quid for this movie. Its a typical bolly cheapo, two stupid actors with some really retarded jokes which I'm not sure even 90 year old would laugh at. The only reason(or reasons) to see this movie is its innovative style to tell the story. It shows you from POV's, which is very new and pretty dynamic. The songs are also very soothing, but has a repetitive theme. Its a standard Bollywood movie, nothing much. Salman Khan ugggh. Priety Zinta is hot, cute and sexy throughout, be it a college girl, a newly married woman or a single mom. Akshay Kumar plays a dumb bloke and he is mostly unwanted but the last 30 minutes. Its terribly stupid idea to release it in such a critical part of the year as well. The box office threw it out of the window just like it should. A really terrible effort which deserves nothing more than a 4...
