The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

Well you can't really fault Invasion of the Bee Girls for not having a decent premise. In a small town a series of men turn up dead and it soon transpires that they have been killed by a group of women who have killed them while having wild sex. It seems that these ladies are the bee girls, part human, part insect. Wrapped up underneath their feminine charm they have the deadly killer instinct of the insect, and in particular the urge to kill the male after the mating ritual. This one certainly has enough about it to qualify as a cult movie of sorts. It's an amalgamation of sci-fi and horror with a healthy slice of sexploitation added to the mix for good measure. The female killers of the title make for marvellous villains. They slinkily manoeuvre about town wearing enormous sunglasses, looking every inch like dangerous femme fatales. The highlight of the film as a whole is certainly the bee girl transformation sequence where the ladies convert a new recruit into one of their kind by way of a strange and elaborate device that covers the naked woman in honey and then has her covered in a horde of bees. It's a brilliantly daft yet effective bit of sci-fi hokum and one that is worth the price of admission alone. The bee girls themselves go around humping all manner of pretty unsympathetic men and then doing them in, while we sometimes even get to see things from their POV with what can only be described as a bees-eye-view. It's all great stuff basically. So much so that it really is quite difficult getting behind the government agent who is sent in to investigate and put a stop to this great situation. Boo! Hiss! This is definitely one of the unheralded b-movies of the 70's. It remains relatively left-field and gets far less of a mention than similarish bigger budgeted efforts such as The Stepford Wives (1975). But it really has a lot to offer for seasoned horror and sci-fi buffs, particularly of the specific oh-so-entertaining 70's strand. So, let's hear it for the bee girls – they can sting me any day.

After seeing her name get mentioned when talking about the Hammer movie When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth to fellow IMDbers,I discovered that a family friend had recently got a box set with a Victoria Vetri title, which led to me getting ready to see the girls invade. The plot:Getting sent to a small town, Agent Neil Agar discovers that a number of men have been found dead.Taking a close look at the victims,Agar discovers that all the men appear to have been killed during the peak of a sexual activity. As more bodies start to appear,Neil tries to put a ban on sex on the town, whilst taking a close look at the work of local DR Dr. Susan Harris, who is doing a number of tests on the sexual practise of bees.View on the film:Sliding along on Grindhouse slime, director Denis Sanders joyfully dives into the dirt, with Sanders covering the stunning naked Victoria Vetri in flashing lights which give the title sweet weird vibes.Offering some unintended laughs from the "sex face" of the victims,Sanders injects the film with a surprisingly creepy atmosphere,as the demonic "bee eyes" of the ladies gives them a strikingly eerie appearance.Despite trying to get his name off the credits, the screenplay by Nicholas Meyer displays a charming sense of humour,as the men in the town get angry over the bees stopping them from getting a buzz with the girls.

Between the demise of the Hayes Code and the rise of the MPAA where directors fooled with nudity and sexuality in otherwise "mainstream" films. They finally got to show breasts, and darn it, we were going to see breasts. The plot is that men are dying of sudden heart attacks immediately after sexual intercourse, usually with women they aren't married to. Meanwhile, the women are being inducted into this creepy bee cult which uses a rather "interesting" way to convert members. The movie is just plain silly and it didn't look like it had much of a budget. It's also in the days before you could digitally put an actresses head on a body double hot, sexy torso. Some of these women had no business doing nude scenes. But it's fun, corny cheese, enjoy it for what it is. Perhaps with a bit of honey.

Inspired 70's b-movie about a colony of bees that manage to infiltrate the minds and bodies of glamorous women, and use them as vessels for a takeover of mankind. Here's the rub, so to speak: they 'sting' their prey during copulation with the male species. Hence the 'R' rating. A bevy of buxom b-movie starlets (and loops, e.g. Rene Bond, Kathy Hilton), work their way around the campus of a university under the watchful eye of the sultry Anitra Ford, as she pilots their take-over of the town of Peckham. Alarmed at the increasing rate of stiffs being wheeled into the morgue, local police captain (Osmond) welcomes Federal agent William Smith (in fine, fighting form) along with bimbo sidekick Victoria Vetri, sent to investigate the strange phenomena.Witty dialogue (courtesy of noted word-smith and director Nicholas Meyer) sets this cult sci-fi apart; Denis Sanders' direction isn't especially taut and momentum does tend to sag, but the constant influx of quirky characters and situations is irresistibly entertaining. Some of the special effects used to depict the bee-vision isn't bad either, considering its vintage. The cast is an interesting assembly of talent, with experience (Smith, Hammer, Osmond, King in particular) offset by rank amateurism. Anitra Ford is a beguiling woman, but her acting talents here are lamentable. Fortunately, her looks do tend to compensate.Don't be mislead by some of the associated press and commentary concerning this film: while it isn't soft porn, nor is it "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" in narrative or technical standard. Disbelief aside, if you can appreciate the dry humour and lusty amateurs who adorn the screen (sometimes being smothered in bee wax for good measure) you should enjoy this, one-of-a-kind movie experience.
