It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

1st Act: Emotion. This is the act were the toughest things happen. This is were Diane Kruger acts the freaking hell out of this movie. Not that she's bad after, but if you aren't convinced about her performance here, I don't know what to tell you.2nd: Plot precision. There is plot since the start, of course, but here, there is alot of attention to detail, the story goes one way and settles the table for the third act. Is more than anything a plot driven part, with little character moments here and there, but is perfectly done.3rd: Visual Symbolism. The ending closes the movie on a literal note too, but serves the purpose of elevate the whole thing to another level by some, although a bit obvious, beautiful symbolism where everything that the movie stands for is clear for you to process

Acting was A+, Human emotion was A+ but do not mix who is who with what is what for that F-. Kurds are not Turks. If you read Greek history for the past 600 years, you know what is what. Bringing in the Nazis in this is just a way to distort viewers perception of what is evil.

I watched this film with no expectations and was blown away by the depth and quality on offer. Firstly its a very well told story with Diane Kruger giving one of the best performances I've ever seen. She gives a real performance for a genuine lead who struggles with the death of loved ones. The court case is superbly executed with an unforgettable performance from Johannes Krisch and the suspense in the final chapter is gut wrenchingly powerful. This is easily the best film I've seen this year and I'm now going to look at Fatih Akin's previous work.
