Strong and Moving!
... View MoreThis is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
... View MoreIt’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
... View MoreThe acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.
... View MoreI watched a DVD version of the Ocean Shores VHS with hardsubs Chinese on top of English in widescreen. The resolution was maybe 480p and the color was acceptable. There is an underlying story about a lazy son who knows some kung fu but mostly fakes it to show off. After being exposed he does good by improving his skills to the point where he can finally knock down his kung fu master father. It's comedy and plays like a variety show. There's the lion dance, hip hop dance, fortune teller sketch, training sequence, shaolin monk con man, and true martial arts master just to name some of the scenes. The funny parts actually are funny and the kung fu is top notch. At the time of this review the IMDb rating was a totally unreal 8 plus out of 10. I would recommend it for fans of the genre but not rate it any higher than slightly above average at six plus.
