That was an excellent one.

It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

I can't believe this tanked. Look, here's the trouble with rom-coms. They are SO predictable. Meet cute, have problems, get back together, live happily ever after. They really have to be exceptional to get past that predictable aspect. It's been done to death. I sense a new direction in some modern versions. This is one such. It doesn't hew to old standards of morality and Pollyanna visions of reality. In 1930, it would've been banned. It's a bit vulgar. Standard morality is out the window. And yet, there is also a certain, uncomfortable realism here. Ignore that, though, whether you agree or not. What it is, is fresh, different, and exceptionally funny. The cast sells it all quite well, too.

The Stephen Merchant parts are funny but the rest are atrocious. It is a fourth rate copy of 4 Weddings the acting is awful with no comic timing. The characters are paper think uncharming smug rich kids. Every cliché is overused together with hackneyed awkward sentences and engineered Anglo-American comrardary and unsubtle romantic sound tracking. The jokes are old and recycled from old episodes if Robin's Nest. Who watches these banal chick flicks? This is a totally forgettable date movie. As always with Romcoms they try to be romantic and funny and fail at both. Olivia Coleman was completely wasted in this using lines recycled from Agony and It takes a Worried Man. No originality just a complete fail. The audience must have been suckered inti the cinema by the Stephen Merchant bits that you see in the trailer.

Sometimes when you wonder where comedy could possibly go from here, from this moment in time (I'm writing this review Sept. 6, 2014) (in the afternoon) along comes a movie like this that reaches out into new comedy ground and invites you to see it.This is an exhibition of modern art. Something new and fresh. One of the things that makes for great art is when an artist takes up an artistic theme that's already been covered many times by other artists but then presents the very same theme in a new way.Its hard to think up something new using the same tools other artists have used for years and years. Originality is a rarity and as such, when someone presents something new, it often creates impressions among those who view it which can vary greatly. This movie moves comedy down the road a bit. It takes risks that other movies simply haven't taken before. Not in this way.One could look here and see nothing new at all. They could comment that there's nothing new here to see.Another could look at this and find it confusing. They're not sure if its good or bad and so they pry it apart - looking at it in pieces instead of as a whole. Their comments about it could seem disjointed if they can't fully see whats going on further down the road.I see this movie as a familiar theme presented in a new way. A new way of making you laugh. Which is really really hard for a new work of art to do.I found it fresh and stimulating. And hilarious. I laughed my way through it, from beginning to end. And I was disappointed when it ended cause I didn't want to have to leave these new screen friends, just yet. Cause where could I ever find them again? I'm not sure I could have laughed so loud and so often if I wasn't as old as I am. This is an adult comedy. What makes it so great an art piece too is that it offers not just one, but at least two different and distinct meanings to the phrase "adult comedy", one of which is entirely new.New modern art right here. Worth looking at. Look again.Enjoy.

The writer of this movie just isn't funny enough to have written an entire comedy. There are a couple of cute lines here and there but they are obscured by too much clichéd and silly dialog.A couple gets married but realizes they are not meant for one another when he connects with an old flame and she with a new client. The actors are talented comedy actors but they look ill at ease given the strained situations. Anna Faris looks so awkward here and she is usually such a good comedienne. The slim and beautiful Rose Byrne tries hard with an English accent and all. And she is still so charming it kind of rescues some parts of the movie. Simon Baker is wrong as an American business man. And he looks a bit old for the role. There are some terrible scenes, including the dove, the station finale etc.Maybe it is a well intentioned warning against getting married before knowing your spouse well enough and not having enough in common. But it is a painful way to get the message across.
