For 70 minutes, a bunch of seemingly insignificant things happen like phones ringing and pies baking and cell phone chargers being missing and axes being shown, and you think to yourself, man it is going to be great when they tie all these things together into a shocking surprise ending! The surprise is that they actually were insignificant events, and that nothing frightening, tense, or remotely interesting happens at all. If they had have used any of the not-especially-creative plot turns that I imagined happening as I was watching, this movie could have had some redeeming value, like: The old lady is actually her in the future... She finds out she is pregnant again after her husband dies... The creepy realtor is in some kind of cult that looks to sell this house to turn the new owners into some kind of sacrificial offering. But alas it turns out that the only redeeming use for this film is to have something to recommend to someone who doesn't realize that you actually strongly dislike them. They will know once they watch, or they will no longer want to be friends with you for suggesting it.If you actually watched the movie and are only reading this after the fact, rate this review helpful if you found the review to be more entertaining than the movie itself.

Otherwise, this movie makes no sense. The "surprise" ending doesn't explain anything and many of the mysteries in the movie were just lazy writing. Some of the acting is OK, and Christian Oliver can just stand there for all I care, he's so beautiful. Here are questions I have and what I assume would be the writers' responses.SPOILERS BELOWWhat does the ringing phone mean? Who knows? Why does she obsess about her phone charger? Eh, not important. Why did she imagine she dunked herself in the river? Don't ask.How did she get enough blueberries to bake a pie? Don't ask us.Why is she scrubbing the wall? I think I was high when i wrote that part. Why would the Andersons live in such a dump if they can afford to retire to Florida? Huh, I didn't think of that. Why don't we get to see Christian Oliver naked? What?

So, first off, the husband in the movie is German but this is another in a series of bad "horror/suspense" movies where they have foreign actors trying to fake American accents. Why? It's not believable...Throughout the movie you'll hear his accent slip. Why not just let his character be a German? Unless I'm just totally mistaken and that's really how the actor speaks in English...They (the characters) are also pretty unlikable. The husband is particularly unsympathetic and cruel to his wife, and that was just the first night in the house. She's no princess either... whiny, mopey, pretty much annoying. Why is she always freaking out about basically nothing? The ringing phone... why wouldn't they assume that maybe they have a cell phone with a ringtone that sounds like that? Geez... c'mon people. Instead she freaks out about it, the husband is a jerk about it, and it just becomes a bigger thing than it should have been. Sure, they don't get a signal at their house, but maybe their carrier sucks. :)I just didn't like it... slow moving, stupid characters... yeah, not a good time.It got 3 stars from me because at least, unlike some REALLY bad movies, the camera work wasn't too bad. I hated how they ALWAYS showed reactions to something going on, but never showing the thing that was going on. I mean, yeah... it can be suspenseful if done right, showing what the character is doing, but they really overplayed it.I mean, they did that when they show up to the house... they show the two of them in the truck in awestruck wonder at the house, and almost purposefully didn't show the house until later on, almost in passing. That was a weird choice, I thought... but then it kept happening. It kind of felt like I was staring at someone's face the whole movie and watching them react to noises and things I couldn't see. Yawn...

this movie seemed low budget and was quite predictable, although the ending really made it worth while. Sad, is all i can say. the man drowned from his own puke. She didn't kill him, losing a baby and husband by accident... can of course drive a woman crazy. Especially in a secluded place. it is like, Shutter Island. or The Shining. These kinds of psychological thrillers are what US should focus on, instead of making their own versions of Asian horror movies. This one needs a few more jumps but overall the story was intense and can really get to you. I recommend it, since i have totally ran out of horror movies to watch since i have pretty much seen everything.
